Troubleshooting
Generaltroubleshooting
Before calling a service technician, review this chapter or visit the
Toshiba technical support Web site at support.toshiba.corn for
possible causes/solutions for the problem you are experiencing.
Before you begin to troubleshoot any problem, first unplug the TV
from the AC wall outlet, wait approximately one minute, and then
plug the TV back into the AC wall outlet. If the problem still exists
attempt to troubleshoot the problem.

fails to function, simply unplug the TV from the AC outlet and plug
it back in. The TV should return to normal operation.
Other problems.
If your TV's problem is not addressed in this Troubleshooting

DigitalTV
The software pre-installed in the TOSHIBA Digital Televisions consists of multiple,
independent software components. Each software component is copyrighted by TOSHIBA or
a third party.
The TOSHIBA Digital Televisions uses software components that are distributed as freeware
under a third-party end-user license agreement or copyright notice (hereinafter referred to as a
"EULA"). Some EULAs require that the source code of the applicable component be
disclosed as the condition for distributing the software component in executable format.
In addition, some of the software components which are used in Toshiba Digital Televisions
include the software that are made or developed originally by TOSHIBA. These software and
accompanied documents are copyrighted by TOSHIBA, and protected by Copyright Act, an
international treaty's articles and other governing laws. The software components which are
made or developed originally by TOSHIBA and not subject toEULAs are not a target of
source code offering.
The Toshiba wan'anty provided in respect of the Digital TV is the only warranty provided and
no additional warranties are provided inrespect of the software components subject to
EULAs.
Some of the software components distributed under EULAs are made available for use by the
user on the premise that they are not copyrighted or wmaznted by TOSHIBA or any third party.
These software components are licensed to the user fiee of charge and therefore not covered
by any warranty within the scope of the applicable laws. These software components are
provided in "as is" condition without any warranty, whether express or implied. "Warranty"

here includes, but not limited to, an implied wammty for marketability or fitness fur specific
uses. All risks associated with the quality or performance of these software components are
assumed by the user.TOSHIBA shall not be liable whatsoever for anycost of repair 01colxection or other incidental expense incurred in connection with a defect tbund in any of
these software components. Unless specified under the applicable laws or in a written
agreement,a party who changes or redis_ibutes the software with consent from the
copyright holders or based on the aforementioned licenses shall not beheld liable
whatsoever for any loss arising from the use of or inability to use such sot_vare components.
The same applieseven when the copyright holde15or relevant third parties have been
informed of the possibility of such loss. "Loss" here includes normal, special, incidental and
indirect loss (including, but not limited to, the loss of data or its accuracy; loss incmxed by the
user or any third party; and interface incompatibility with other software). Please read each
EULA for details on the use conditions and items that must be observed regarding these
software components.
The table below lists the software components pre-installed in the TOSHIBADigital
Televisions, which are subject to EULAs. The user should read the applicable EULAs
carefully before using these software components. The EULAs are exhibited in their original
text (English) as exactly written by the respective parties other than TOSHIBA.
For at least _-ee (3) years from the date of distribution of the tbis product, Toshiba will give
to anyone who contacts Toshiba Consumer Solutions at (800) 631-3811, for a charge of no
more than our cost of physically performing source code distribution, a complete machinereadable copy of the complete con-esponding GPL and LGPL source code for the version of
the GPL and LGPL code that we distributed to you in this product.

(1) If any part of the source code for this software isdistributed, then this README file must

(3) Permission for use of this software is granted only if the user accepts full responsibility
for any undesirable consequences; the authors accept NO LIABILITY for damages of any
kind.
These conditions apply to any software derived from or based on the IJG code, notjust to the
unmodified library. If you use our work, you ought to acknowledge us.
Permission is NOT granted for the use of any IJG author's name or company name in
advertising or publicity relating to this software or products derived from it. This software
may be referred to only as"the Independent JPEG Group's software".
We specifically permit and encotu-age the use of this software as the basis of commercial
products, provided that all warranty or liability claims are assumed by the product vendor.
ansi2knr.c is included in this distribution by permission of L. Peter Deutsch, sole proprietor
of its copyright holder,Aladdin Enterprises of Menlo Park, CA. ansi2knr.c isNOT covered
by the above copyright and conditions, but instead by the usual distribution terms of the Free
Software Foundation; principally, that you must include som-cecode if you redistribute it.
(See the file ansi2knr.c for full details.) However, since ansi2knrc is not needed as part of any
program generated from the IJG code, this does not limit you more than the foregoing
paragraphs do.
The Unix configuration script"configure" was produced with GNU Autoconf. It iscopyright
by the Free Software Foundation but is freely distributable. The same holds for its supporting
scripts (config.guess, config.sub, ltmain.sh). Another support script, install-sh, is copyright
by X Consortium but is also freely distributable.
The IJG distribution formerly included code to read and write GIF files. To avoid
entanglement with the Unisys LZW patent, GIF reading support has been removed
altogether, and the GIF writer has been simplified to produce "uncompressed GIFs". This
technique does not use the LZW algorithm; the resulting GIF files are larger than usual, but
are readable by all standard GIF decodel_.
We are required to state that

Incorporated. GlF(sm) is a Service Mark property of CompuServe Incorporated."

David Turner, Robert Wilhelm, and Werner Lemberg
Introduction
The FreeType Project is distributed inseveral archive packages; some of them may contain,
in addition to the FreeType font engine, various tools and contributions which rely on, or
relate to, the FreeType Project.
This license applies to all files found in such packages, and which do not fall under their own
explicit license. The license affects thus the FreeType font engine, the test programs,
documentation and makefiles, atthe very least.

This license was inspired by the BSD, Artistic, and IJG (Independent JPEG Group) licenses,
which all encourage inclusion and use of free software in commercial and freeware products
alike. As a consequence, itsmain points are that:
o1. We don't promise that this software works. However, we wilt be interested in
any kind of bug reports. ("as is' distribution)
o:o You can use this software for whatever you want, in parts or full form, without
having to pay us. ("royalty-free' usage)
÷:. You may not pretend that you wrote this software. If you use it, or only parts of
it, in a program, you must acknowledge somewhere in your documentation that
you have used the FreeType code. ("credits')
We specifically permit and encourage the inclusion ofthis soRware, with orwithout
modifications, in commercial products. We disclaim all warranties covering The Fl'eeType
Project and assume no liability related toThe FreeType Project.
Finally, many people asked us for a preferred form for a credit]disclaimer to use in
compliance with this license. We thus encourage you to use the following text:
