touchscreencleanandprotected,applythescreenprotectorfollowingtheinstructionsprovidedin

Trimblerecommendsthatyoureplacethescreenprotectoreverytwomonths,ormoreoften
ifheavilyused.

Attachingthestylus
Yourtabletcomputercomeswithacapacitivestylusforusewiththetouchscreen.Thestylus
holdersatthebackofthetabletcomputerprovidesaconvenientplacetostorethestylus,on

2. Looptheotherendofthetethertothetabletcomputereyelet.
3.Pushthestylusonthestylusholderuntilitlocksintoplace.
Toremovethestylus,liftthestylusbyitstabtoremoveitfromthestylusholder.For
convenienceofuse,pullthetabtoextendthestyluslength.
InsertingaSIMcard
Ifyourtabletcomputersupportsdataconnectionusing3GSIMcards,itincludesamicroSIM
cardslotforcellularandwirelessconnection.OnlyamicroSIMcardissupportedintheslot.
ToinsertaSIMcard:
1. Makesurethetabletcomputeristurnedoff.RemovethebatteryandlocatetheSIMcard
slotinsidethebatterycompartment.
2. OpentheSIMcardslotcover.
3. AligntheSIMcardwiththeslotmakingsurethatthecornersmatch.
4. InsertthemicroSIMcardandpressitinuntilitclicks.
5. ClosetheSIMcardslotcover,andreplacethebattery.Lockthebatterycompartment.

ThetabletcomputeroperatesonexternalACpowerorbatterypower.
WARNING–ChargeandusetherechargeableLithium‐ionbatteryonlyinstrictaccordancewiththeinstructions.
Chargingorusingthebatteryinunauthorizedequipmentcancauseanexplosionorfire,andcanresultinpersonal
injuryand/orequipmentdamage.
Topreventinjuryordamage:
–Donotchargeorusethebatteryifitappearstobedamagedorleaking.
–ChargetheLithium‐ionbatteryonlyinaTrimbleproductthatisspecifiedtochargeit.Besuretofollowall
instructionsthatareprovidedwiththebatterycharger.
–Discontinuechargingabatterythatgivesoffextremeheatoraburningodor.
–UsethebatteryonlyinTrimbleequipmentthatisspecifiedtouseit.
–Usethebatteryonlyforitsintendeduseandaccordingtotheinstructionsintheproductdocumentation.
ToconnectthetabletcomputertoACpowerandchargethebatteryinsidethedevice:
1. Connecttheappropriateplugtothepowercordandattachthepowersupply.
2. Plugintoanelectricaloutletandplugthebarrelendofthepowersupplyintotheunit.
WhentheACadapterisconnected,thebatteryischarging.Thebatterywillchargefullyinabout
4.5hours.ThebatteryLEDindicatorglowsambertoindicatethatchargingisinprogress.When
thebatteryisfullycharged,thebatteryLEDindicatorglowsgreen.
Youcanalsousetheofficebatterychargertochargeabatteryoutsideofthedevice.

thatyoualwaysuseascreenprotectorwhenusingthetabletcomputer.SeeApplyingthescreen
protector,page9.
Useonlyyourfinger,thecapacitivestylus,orsuitableconductiveglovestointeractwiththe
touchscreen.Donotusesharp,pointedobjectsorroughglovesonthetouchscreen.Theseobjects
mayscratchthescreen.
Donotplaceanyobjectsonitssurfaceanddonotpressdownstronglywithsharp‐pointedorhard
objectsthatmayleavemarks
Usethestylusonlyfortouchingthescreen.Usingitforanyotherpurposemaydamagethe
stylusandresultinscratchesonthescreen.
Thecapacitivestyluselectromagneticinductionandmaynotworkproperlynearstrongelectrical
fieldsormagneticfieldssuchasnearAMradiobasestationsorrelaystationantennas,ornearCRT

Thetouchscreenisdesignedtoberesponsivetoexternallightingconditionstoadjustits

brightnessforashortperiod:
1. OntheDesktoportheStartscreen,flicktheright‐handsideofthescreentothelefttodisplay

Thetabletcomputer'sscreenorientationchangesbetweenlandscapeandportraitasyouphysically
rotatethetabletcomputer.Topreventthescreenorientationfromchangingautomatically,you
canlockthescreeninlandscapeorportraitmode:
1. Turnthetabletcomputertodisplaythescreeninthemodeyouwanttolock.
2. OntheDesktoportheStartscreen,flicktheright‐handsideofthescreentothelefttodisplay
theCharmbar.(Note:inPortraitmode,flickfromthebottomrightcorner,belowthetime

Ifyouneedtorecalibratethetouchscreen,usetheWindows8screencalibrationtool.
1. OntheDesktop,flicktheright‐handsideofthescreentothelefttodisplaytheCharmbar.Tap
ControlPanel.
2. TapTabletPCSettings.
3. IntheTabletPCSettingsdialog,tapCalibrate.Thefirsttimeyoucalibratethetouchscreen,
amessageappearsconfirmingthatyouwanttoallowthetooltomakechangestothe
device.TapYes.
4. Followtheon‐screeninstructions,tappingthemakerasitappearsonthescreen,then
saveyourchanges.
UsingtheKenaiutility
TheF1,F2,F3,andF4buttonsonthefrontrightofthetabletcomputercanbeprogrammedto
performdifferentactionsthanthedefaultcursoractionstoallowsupdownleftandright
movementofthecursorortabselection.
ToassignotheractionsfortheF1‐F4buttons,usetheKenaiutility(nametobeconfirmed).You
canspecify4actionsforeachbutton.
1. LaunchtheKenaiutility,thentapButtonSetting.
SettingAshowsthedefaultsettingsfortheF1‐F4buttons.Youcanchangetheseifrequired.
2. TosettherequiredactionsfortheF1‐F4buttons,taptherequiredSettingbutton(SettingA,
SettingB,SettingC,SettingD).
3. Tapthedrop‐downarrowforeachoftheF1‐F4buttonsinturn,andselecttherequired
actionfromthelist.
4. Whenyouhaveselectedalltherequiredactions,tapSave.
5. TapEXITtoclosetheKenaiutility.

Yourtabletcomputeroperateseitheron
externalACpoweroronbatterypower.This

managepower.Tomaintainoptimalbattery
performance,itisimportantthatyouusethe
batteryintheproperway.
Theoperatingtimeofafullychargedbattery
packdependsonhowyouusethetablet
computer.Whenyouuseapplicationsthatoften
accessperipherals,orwhenyoustayconnected
toawirelessnetwork,theoperatingtimeofthe
batterymaybeshortened.

Ifyourelyonbatterypowerforalongperiodoftime,considerpurchasinganextendedlife
batteryoranadditionalstandardbatterytouseforbackup.
Thetabletcomputerisfittedwithaninternalbatterythatmaintainsnormaloperationfora
reasonableperiodoftimewhiletheexternalbatteryischanged.However,Trimblestill
recommendsthatyousaveallworkbeforeyoureplacetheexternalbattery.
Toreplacethebatterywithabatterythathasbeenchargedoutsideofthedevice,dothefollowing:
1. DisconnectthetabletcomputerfromtheACpower.
2. Unlockthebatterycompartment,andremovethebattery.
3. Insertthereplacementbattery,andlockthebatteryinplace.
YouMUSTlockthebattery;thebatterychargestatusontheDesktopdisplaysanerrorifthe
batteryisnotlockedin,and,ifthetabletcomputeristurnedoff,itwillnotturnon.
Checkingthechargelevelofthebattery
Tocheckthelevelofbatterycharge,ontheDesktop,taptheBatteryiconintheNotificationsarea
atthebottomrightofthescreen.
Powermanagementandpower‐savingtips
Thepowermanagementfeaturehelpsreducepowerconsumptionextendingbatterylife.
TheTrimbleKenaitabletcomputersupportsACPI(AdvancedConfigurationandPowerInterface)
forpowermanagement.Powersupplytodifferentcomponentsiscontrolledonanas‐needed
basis.Thisallowsmaximumpowerconservationandperformanceatthesametime.
TheWindowsoperatingsystemcomeswithpre‐definedPowerOptions(Balanced,PowerSaver,
ECOmode,andHighPerformance)foryoutoselect.ToaccessPowerOptions:
1. OntheDesktop,flicktheright‐handsideofthescreentothelefttodisplaytheCharmbar.Tap
ControlPanel.
2. TapPowerOptions.(Or,inCategoryview,tapSystemandSecurity/PowerOptions).

1.4 ConnectivitySoftware.YourDevicepackagemayincludeWindowsMobileDeviceCenterorMicrosoftActiveSyncsoftware.Ifitisincluded,
thenyoumayinstallanduseitinaccordancewiththelicensetermsthatareprovidedwithit.Ifnolicensetermsareprovided,thenyoumay
installanduseonlyone(1)copyoftheSoftwareonasinglecomputer.
1.5 DigitalCertificates.TheSoftwareusesdigitalcertificatesinX.509format.Thesedigitalcertificatesareusedforauthentication.
1.6 PhoneFunctionality.IftheDeviceSoftwareincludesphonefunctionality,allorcertainportionsoftheDeviceSoftwaremaybeinoperableif
youdonothaveandmaintainaserviceaccountwithawirelesstelecommunicationcarrier(“MobileOperator”),oriftheMobileOperator’s

1.12 OtherRightsandLimitations.(1)TheSoftwarecontainsvaluabletradesecretsproprietarytoTrimbleanditssuppliers.Totheextentpermittedby
relevantlaw,youshallnot,norallowanythirdpartytocopy,decompile,disassembleorotherwisereverseengineertheSoftware,orattempttodoso,
provided,however,thattotheextentanyapplicablemandatorylaws(suchas,forexample,nationallawsimplementingECDirective91/250ontheLegal
ProtectionofComputerPrograms)giveyoutherighttoperformanyoftheaforementionedactivitieswithoutTrimble'sconsentinordertogaincertain
informationabouttheSoftwareforpurposesspecifiedintherespectivestatutes(i.e.,interoperability),youherebyagreethat,beforeexercisinganysuch
rights,youshallfirstrequestsuchinformationfromTrimbleinwritingdetailingthepurposeforwhichyouneedtheinformation.OnlyifandafterTrimble,at
itssolediscretion,partlyorcompletelydeniesyourrequest,mayyouexercisesuchstatutoryrights.(2)ThisSoftwareislicensedasasingleproduct.Youmay

2LIMITEDWARRANTYFORTRIMBLEPRODUCTSOFTWARE
2.1 LimitedWarranty.TrimblewarrantsthattheSoftware,exclusiveoftheMicrosoftSoftware,willperformsubstantiallyinaccordancewiththe
accompanyingwrittenmaterialsforaperiodoftwelve(12)monthsfromthedateofpurchase.Thislimitedwarrantygivesyouspecificlegal
rights;youmayhaveothers,whichvaryfromstate/jurisdictiontostate/jurisdiction.TheabovelimitedwarrantydoesnotapplytoFixes,Minor
Updates,orMajorUpgradesoftheSoftwareafterexpirationofthetwelve(12)monthlimitedwarrantyperiod,allofwhichareprovided“ASIS”
andwithoutwarrantyunlessotherwisespecifiedinwritingbyTrimble.BecausetheSoftwareisinherentlycomplexandmaynotbecompletely
freeofnonconformities,defectsorerrors,youareadvisedtoverifyyourwork.TrimbledoesnotwarrantthattheSoftwarewilloperateerror
freeoruninterrupted,willmeetyourneedsorexpectations,orthatallnonconformitiescanorwillbecorrected.
2.2 SoftwareFixes.Duringthelimitedwarrantyperioddescribedinsection2.1above,youwillbeentitledtoreceivesuchFixestotheProduct
SoftwarethatTrimblereleasesandmakescommerciallyavailableandforwhichitdoesnotchargeseparately,subjecttotheproceduresfor
deliverytopurchasersofTrimbleproductsgenerally.IfyouhavepurchasedtheProductfromanauthorizedTrimbledealerratherthanfrom
Trimbledirectly,Trimblemay,atitsoption,forwardthesoftwareFixtotheTrimbledealerforfinaldistributiontoyou.MinorUpdates,Major
Upgrades,newproducts,orsubstantiallynewsoftwarereleases,asidentifiedbyTrimble,areexpresslyexcludedfromthisupdateprocessand
limitedwarranty.ReceiptofSoftwareFixesorotherenhancementsshallnotservetoextendthelimitedwarrantyperiod.
Forpurposesofthiswarrantythefollowingdefinitionsshallapply:(1)"Fix(es)"meansanerrorcorrectionorotherupdatecreatedtofixa
previoussoftwareversionthatdoesnotsubstantiallyconformtoitsTrimblespecifications;(2)"MinorUpdate"occurswhenenhancementsare
madetocurrentfeaturesinasoftwareprogram;and(3)"MajorUpgrade"occurswhensignificantnewfeaturesareaddedtosoftware,orwhena
newproductcontainingnewfeaturesreplacesthefurtherdevelopmentofacurrentproductline.Trimblereservestherighttodetermine,inits
solediscretion,whatconstitutesaFix,MinorUpdate,orMajorUpgrade.
2.3 CustomerRemedies.Trimble’sanditssuppliers’entireliability,andyoursoleremedy,withrespecttotheSoftwareshallbeeither,at
Trimble’soption,(a)repairorreplacementoftheSoftware,or(b)returnofthelicensefeepaidforanySoftwarethatdoesnotmeetTrimble’s
limitedwarranty.ThislimitedwarrantyisvoidiffailureoftheSoftwarehasresultedfrom(1)accident,misuse,abuse,ormisapplication;(2)
alterationormodificationoftheSoftwarewithoutTrimble’sauthorization;(3)interactionwithsoftwareorhardwarenotsuppliedorsupported
byTrimble;(4)yourimproper,inadequateorunauthorizedinstallation,maintenanceorstorage;or(5)ifyouviolatethetermsofthisEULA.Any
replacementSoftwarewillbewarrantedfortheremainderoftheoriginalwarrantyperiodorthirty(30)days,whicheverislonger.

4GENERAL
4.1 ThisEULAshallbegovernedbythelawsoftheStateofCaliforniaandapplicableUnitedStatesFederallawwithoutreferenceto“conflictof
laws”principlesorprovisions.TheUnitedNationsConventiononContractsfortheInternationalSaleofGoodswillnotapplytothisEULA.
JurisdictionandvenueofanydisputeorcourtactionarisingfromorrelatedtothisEULAortheSoftwareshalllieexclusivelyinorbetransferred
tothecourtstheCountyofSantaClara,California,and/ortheUnitedStatesDistrictCourtfortheNorthernDistrictofCalifornia.Youhereby
consentandagreenottocontest,suchjurisdiction,venueandgoverninglaw.
4.2 Section4.1notwithstanding,ifyouacquiredthisproductinCanada,thisEULAisgovernedbythelawsoftheProvinceofOntario,Canada.Insuchcase
eachofthepartiestothisEULAirrevocablyattornstothejurisdictionofthecourtsoftheProvinceofOntarioandfurtheragreestocommenceany
litigationthatmayariseunderthisEULAinthecourtslocatedintheJudicialDistrictofYork,ProvinceofOntario.Ifyouacquiredthisproductinthe
EuropeanUnion,thisEULAisgovernedbythelawsofTheNetherlands,excludingitsrulesgoverningconflictsoflawsandexcludingtheUnitedNations
ConventionontheInternationalSaleofGoods.InsuchcaseeachofthepartiestothisEULAirrevocablyattornstothejurisdictionofthecourtsofThe
NetherlandsandfurtheragreestocommenceanylitigationthatmayariseunderthisEULAinthecourtsofTheHague,TheNetherlands.
4.3 TrimblereservesallrightsnotexpresslygrantedbythisEULA.
4.4 OfficialLanguage.TheofficiallanguageofthisEULAandofanydocumentsrelatingtheretoisEnglish.Forpurposesofinterpretation,orintheeventofa
conflictbetweenEnglishandversionsofthisEULAorrelateddocumentsinanyotherlanguage,theEnglishlanguageversionshallbecontrolling.
