1ITI Part No. 60-xxxInstallation InstructionsDocument Number: 466-1952 Rev. A PRELIMINARYFebruary 2002Preliminary 2/8/02Product SummaryThe RF 2-Way Siren is a supervised device that transmitssupervisory signals for the panel to receive. When the bat-tery is low, the module transmits a low battery signal.NoteThe RF 2-Way Siren does not have a backup power sup-ply. Therefore, the battery must be replaced immediatelywhen a low battery condition occurs. If the battery isallowed to completely drain, the panel identifies the RF 2-Way Siren as being in a supervisory (non-working) state, which prevents system events from being reported.Installation GuidelinesUse the following guidelines when installing the RF 2-WaySiren:↕Before permanently mounting to a wall, test the RF 2-Way Siren from the desired location to ensure commu-nication to and from the panel. This means you mustfirst add (learn) the RF 2-Way Siren into panel mem-ory. Then perform a sensor test.↕Mount the module within 100 feet of the panel, but notcloser than 10 feet to another RF 2-Way Siren or thepanel.↕Always mount the RF 2-Way Siren in the upright verti-cal position.Tools and Supplies↕Phillips screwdriver↕Two #6 phillips-head screws (included)↕Two wall anchors (included)↕PencilInstallationThis section describes programming, testing, mounting, andphone line connections.ProgrammingThis section describes the steps for adding (learning) the RF2-Way Siren into panel memory.1. With the system disarmed, enter program mode bypressing +.2. Press twice and twice. The display shows ZONE 01 - TRIP.3. Press Test button. The siren will beep three times, indi-cating it is learned into the panel.4. Exit Program mode.TestingThis section describes the basic steps for testing transmit-ting reange from the RF 2-Way Siren to the panel. For com-plete testing instructions, see the panel installationinstructions.NoteBe sure to attach the cover to the RF 2-Way Siren beforetesting communications.1. Straighten the antenna to a vertical position.2. Place the RF 2-Way Siren in the desired location.3. Enter sensor test mode on the panel4. Press Test button on siren.5. Listen for the panel piezo to sound 7 - 8 beeps. Thisindicates good reception from the siren to the panel.6. If you hear fewer than 7 beeps, test the siren in differentlocations. Mounting locations should be limited toareas where the panel responds with 7 - 8 beeps.7. To re-test transmitting range after relocating the siren, press the Test button again and listen for 7 - 8 beeps.8. Exit from the test mode after determining acceptablelocations.Mounting and Antenna PositioningAfter finding an acceptable mounting location (based ontesting), mount the RF 2-Way Siren and position theantenna as described below. The antenna can be insertedinto a wall or positioned upright inside the antenna housing.NoteFor best range, it is recommended that the antenna beinserted into the wall.Mounting with Antenna in Wall1. Remove the circuit board from the plastic housing bypushing up on the tab and pulling the board outward(see Figure x). Place the board in the cover.2. Mark the mounting holes and the antenna insertion hole(see Figure x).WARNING: Youmustbefreeofallstaticelectricity when handling electronic compo-nents. Touch a bare metal surface or wear agrounding strap before touching the circuit.
Preliminary 2/8/0223. Make a hole in the wall at the antenna insertion holeand mounting hole marks.4. Insert wall anchors where necessary, then use two #6screws to secure the plastic housing to the wall.5. Insert the antenna into the antenna insertion hole andre-install the board onto the plastic base. Insert the bot-tom first, then push in at the top until it snaps in underthe tab.6. Install the protective dust cap (included in accessorypacket) in the hole located on the top-right of the RF 2-Way Siren’s plastic housing.Mounting with Antenna Housing1. Hold the RF 2-Way Siren against the wall and mark themounting holes (see Figure x). Be sure to leave at least4 inches above the siren for the antenna housing.2. Make a hole in the wall at the mounting hole marks.3. Slide the antenna housing over the antenna and snapthe housing into the upper-right hole (see Figure x).4. Insert wall anchors where necessary, then use two #6screws to secure the siren module to the wall throughthe mounting holes.5. Re-install the board onto the plastic base. Insert thebottom first, then push in at the top until it snaps inunder the tab.TroubleshootingNo System ResponseIf the system does not respond in sensor test (as described inthe panel installation instructions), try the following:↕Change the antenna position. Best range is achieved byinserting the antenna into the wall.↕Check that the RF 2-Way Siren batteries is installed.↕Check the RF 2-Way Siren batteries for low voltage.replace the batteries if necessary.↕Use an RF Sniffer (60-401) to verify that the RF 2-WaySiren is transmitting.↕Verify that the RF 2-Way Siren was added (learned)into panel memory correctly.Trouble Condition↕The tamper switch may have been tripped. Check thatthe cover is securely in place.↕The RF 2-Way Siren batteries may be low. Check thebatteries and replace if necessary.Module Supervisory↕If the panel indicates a RF 2-Way Siren supervisorycondition, use an RF Sniffer (60-401) to verify that thesiren transmits when the tamper switch is pressed. If itdoes not transmit, check the batteries and replace themif necessary.↕If the sniffer indicates that the RF 2-Way Siren is trans-mitting, it may be out of panel receiving range. Use thesensor test to verify that the siren is within panel range. If necessary, test the siren from other locations until anacceptable location is found.SpecificationsCompatibility: ............
