Auto Pairing Mode





Out of the box and with batteries inserted, the RCU shall enter into auto‐pairing mode, as
long as the RCU has no pairing information stored in memory.
The feedback LED will start blinking rapidly, indicating that the remote is in pairing mode.
The remote shall first send out an IR code in case the STB supports IR assisted pairing. In
case the STB doesn’t support IR assisted pairing, the STB shall ignore the IR code.
After sending the IR code for pairing, the remote shall start transmitting general BLE
advertisement (ADV_IND) packets with an advertisement interval of PAIR_ADV_INTERVAL
and repeatedly transmits for up to PAIR_ADV_DURATION. If no connection is established
as a result of the advertising, the RCU returns to deep sleep state after
PAIR_ADV_DURATION (refer to section 8.4.6.1).
If the remote doesn’t pair with the host during the first 60sec or PAIR_ADV_DURATION,
the remote shall go to sleep and stop advertising.
Manual Pairing Mode




To wake up the remote to enter it back into pairing, the user would have to press the key
combination Play/Pause and Home for at least 3 sec.
Once in pairing mode, the remote will first send out an IR command to the target STB to
put it into pairing mode. If the target device does not support IR assisted pairing, it shall
ignore the IR code.
Manual Un‐Pairing
If the RCU is paired and the user is simultaneously pressing and holding the keys Play/Pause and
Back for at least 3 seconds, the pairing information will be deleted. If necessary, the RF link
should be disconnected. Below is the sequence of operations that needs to be executed –


The RCU should initiate a link disconnection (terminate link) if there is any active
connection
RCU should make an attempt to disconnect cleanly and if it fails, the RCU should force the
link disconnection

Delete the pairing information
The RCU should also send the un-pairing message to STB so that the STB can remove the pairing
entry. QuickSet and UAPI related features should be reset after this operation is performed. The
RCU will revert default IR state. If there are any Universal TV or Audio codes already setup, they
will remain unchanged. If the user wishes to go back to the BLE mode, the user will need to re-pair
according to section.
Customer Reset/Feature Reset
This feature clears the RAM and heap memory, and performs a soft reset. It will reset the remote
control features except the pairing information.
1. Press and hold Error! Reference source not found. until the feedback LED blinks twice.
2. Enter 977 to initiate feature reset
3. The feedback LED will display four blinks to indicate a successful reset.
