Congratulationson purchasing your new VTech product.  Before using this product, please read Important safety instructions.This manual has instructions on how to set up and register your new sensor. Do not mix alkaline, standard (Carbon-Zinc) or rechargeable (Ni-Cad, Ni-Mh, etc) batteries.While you insert the batteries, make sure the polarities are correct.The batteries operate properly under the temperature between -18°C (0°F) and 50°C (122°F).••••1.2.•••Add and register a sensorAdd your new VC7001 garage door status sensor to your VC7151/VC7152 telephone system.Register each sensor with the telephone base before use.To register a garage door status sensor:Press and hold  /FIND HANDSET on the telephone base for about 4 seconds until the IN USE light turns on. The telephone base shows Registering... Please wait.Press and hold the pair button on the garage door status sensor, until the LED light flashes red, to enter the registration mode.The telephone base shows Garage X* registered and you hear a beep when the registration process completes. The registration process takes about 90 seconds to complete.Replacing a sensorIf you have purchased this new VC7001 accessory sensor to replace an old sensor, follow the instructions to deregister your old sensor. The VC7151/VC7152 telephone system can support up to 400 sensors.To replace a sensor, you must deregister the registered sensor first, and then register this new sensor to the telephone base.To deregister a sensor:Press MENU when the phone is not in use.Enter the code *33734# to access the DEREGISTER menu.Scroll to Single sensor, and then press SELECT.Scroll to the sensor you want to deregister, and then press SELECT.Press YES to confirm the deregistration.The telephone base shows Garage X is deregistered and you hear a beep when the deregistration process completes.To deregister all sensors:Press MENU when the phone is not in use.Enter the code *33734# to access the DEREGISTER menu.Press SELECT to select All sensors.Press YES to confirm the deregistration.The telephone base shows All sensors are deregistered and you hear a beep when the deregistration process completes.*    Garage X refers to the sensor’s name. X refers       to the system-assigned number of the sensor.1.2.1.2.3.4.5.1.2.3.4.Check the sensor before use1.  Hold the sensor and tilt it to 90 degrees, with the   logo facing downward.You will hear an announcement alert - “Garage X is open”, from the handset and the telephone base.The handset and the telephone base will display Garage X is open” and then  .The SENSOR light on the telephone base will turn red.2.  Tilt the sensor to 90 degrees to the original upright position. will disappear from the handset and the telephone base.The SENSOR light on the telephone base will turn off.NOTEThere is a component inside this sensor to detect orientation. It is normal to hear a rattling sound when tilted.••••••Test the location for sensorYou can mount the garage door status sensor on a garage door that raises overhead. Before mounting the sensor, make sure you test if the location you install the sensor is in range from the telephone base.1.  Take the sensor to the desired mounting location on the garage door.2.  Open the garage door and listen for an announcement alert at your handset and telephone base.Use your handset to enter the Settings menu, and then the Sensor setup menu. Follow the steps to test the sensor’s signal strength. Move the base closer to the garage, or move the sensor closer to the base, if the sensor is out of range.NOTESUse adhesive tape to hold the sensor temporarily in place whilst testing, and step away from the sensor before testing. This allows a better radio transmission between the sensor and the baseMount the sensor at a higher position of the garage door. Depending on surroundings and obstructing factors, like concrete garage walls, a tall metal storage cabinet, or an SUV, the sensor may not transmit to the base properly.••Mount the sensorNOTEMake sure the mounting surface is clean.  A textured surface or any imperfections to  a smooth surface can keep the sticker from making a strong bond.TIPYou can choose to mount the sensor with sticker first, and then use screws later if you decide to mount it at that location for long term.Mount with sticker1.  Attach the sticker onto the rectangular area of the back cover, and then stick the garage door status sensor onto the garage door.2.  Firmly press the sensor for 30 seconds to ensure full contact on the surface area.Mount with screws 1.  Press the latch button on the sensor to open the battery compartment case.2.  Use the two holes on the back cover to mark the desired location of the garage door.3.  Remove the back cover and drill two holes into the garage door. •• 4.  Align the holes on the back cover of the sensor with the holes on the garage door. Stick the back cover onto the door. Tighten the screws into the holes to secure the back cover onto the garage door.TIPYou may also choose to attach the sticker onto the back cover to strengthen the bond, if necessary.5.  Push the battery compartment case back to the back cover on the garage door until it clicks into place.•General product careTaking care of your sensorYour sensor contains sophisticated electronic parts, so it must be treated with care.Avoid rough treatmentPlace the sensor down gently. Save the original packing materials to protect your sensor if you ever need to ship it.Avoid waterYour sensor can be damaged if it gets wet. Do not use the sensor outdoors in the rain, or handle it with wet hands. Do not install the sensor near a sink, bathtub or shower.Electrical stormsElectrical storms can sometimes cause power surges harmful to electronic equipment. For your own safety, take caution when using electrical appliances during storms.Cleaning your sensorYour sensor has a durable plastic casing that should retain its luster for many years. Clean it only with a dry non-abrasive cloth. Do not usedampened cloth or cleaning solvents of any kind.StorageWhen you are not going to use the sensor for some time, remove the battery from the sensor. Frequently asked questionsBelow are the questions most frequently asked about the sensor.The display shows  SENSOR X Low battery.Press and hold CANCEL on the handset or telephone base to erase the message.Replace the batteries with new ones.The sensor does not work at all.Make sure two AAA batteries are installed.Check if the SENSORS softkey is displayed in the idle screen of the telephone base or handset.
