 Toinstallthebattery,holdthetransceiverwithyourlefthand,soyourpalmisoverthespeakerandyourthumb is on the top of the belt clip.Insertthebatterypackintothebattery compartment on thebackoftheradiowhiletilt-ingthe BeltClipoutward,thenpushthebottomsideofthebatterypackuntil the battery packlocks with the BatteryPackLatch.OperatiOnBefOre YOu BeginBattery Pack InstallatIon and removal PrelImInary stePs Installachargedbatterypackontothetransceiver,asdescribedpreviously. Screwthesuppliedantenna ontotheAntennajack.Neverattempttooperatethistransceiverwithoutanantennaconnected. If you have a Speaker/Microphone, we recommend that it not be connecteduntilyouarefamiliarwiththebasicoperationoftheVX-350.oPeratIon QuIck start Turnthetoppanel’sVOL/PWRknobclockwisetoturnontheradioon. Turn the top panel’s CH selector knob to choosethedesiredoperatingchannel. RotatetheVOL/PWRknobtosetthevolumelevel.Ifnosignalispresent,pressandholdintheProgrammablekeyassignedto“SQL OFF”formorethanonesecond;backgroundnoisewillnowbe heard, and you may use this to set the VOL/PWRknobforthedesiredaudiolevel. Press and hold in the Programmable key as-signedto“SQL OFF”formorethanonesecond(orpressthekeytwice)toquietthenoiseandresumenormal(quiet)monitoring. Totransmit,monitorthechannelandmakesure itisclear. Totransmit, pressandholdinthePTTswitch.Speakintothemicrophoneareaofthefrontpanelgrille (lower right-hand corner) in a normal voicelevel. To return to the Receive mode, illuminated. You can cause the radio to transmit by pressing theP-T-Tbutton. SARcomplianceforbody-wornusewasonlydemonstratedforthe specificbelt-clip(CLIP-18).Otherbody-wornaccessoriesorcongurationsmayNOTcomplywiththeICRSSGeneralRequirementandshouldbeavoided. WhenoperatetheradiowiththeVertex Standard
