Analyzerprovidesavisualassessmentoftheappearanceofyourskin.Withthe

advanced,proprietarytechnologyoftheNuSkinProDermSkinAnalyzer,the

scientifictruthleadsthewaytobeautifulresults.



TheNuSkinProDermSkinAnalyzerusesadvancedopticsandlighting

technologytocaptureimagesoffourkeyskinattributes–discoloration,linesand

wrinkles,texture,andporesize.ProDermanalyzestheseimagesusing

algorithmsdevelopedbyleadingimageanalysisandskincareexperts.



ChargingtheBattery



ChargeyourProDermbatteryforatleastsixhoursbeforeuse.Plugtheincluded

ACAdapterintotheunitandthenintothepoweroutlet.



InstallingtheDesktopSoftware&DownloadingUpdates



TheProDermdesktopsoftwareisdesignedforusewithyourProDermSkin

Analyzertohelpyoumanageyourprofiles.Youcanstoreprofiles,e‐mailprofile

reports,trackclientresults,andanalyzeyourbusinessusingthebusiness

managementtoolsincludedinthesoftware.



ItisnotnecessarytoconnectyourProDermdevicetoyourPCuntilafterthe

ProDermdesktopsoftwareisinstalled.



InstalltheProDermdesktopsoftwareonyourpersonalcomputer(PC)



• InserttheProDermCDintoyourPC.Aninstallerwindowwillopen.

Thiswindowwillcontaininstructionsandpromptstotakeyouthrough

theinstallationprocess.Seesection5fordetailedinformationaboutthe

installationprocess.



• Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.Youwillbeaskedtoacceptthe

termsofthesoftwarelicenseagreementandentersomeclient

information.



PoweringUp



Initially,youmayneedtoholddownthepowerbuttononyourProDermunit

foroneortwosecondswhenturningitoffandon.

Calibration



ThefirsttimeyouturnonyourProDermunit,youwillbepromptedtocalibrate

theinstrument.Thisensuresthatthetouchscreenisalignedcorrectly.



Youwillseeascreenwithcrosshairs–touchandholddownthestylusoneach

crosshairforonetotwoseconds.Continuefollowingtheinstructionsonthe

screentoperformthecalibration.Youwillonlyhavetocalibratethedevicethe

firsttimeyouturniton.



Usingproprietarytechnology,ProDermcapturesandanalyzesdetailedimages

oftheskin.BasedontheProDermanalysis,youareabletorecommend

ProDermcertifiedNuSkin®productstoyourclientthatareformulatedto

improvetheappearanceandhealthoftheirskin.



ProDermcapturesimageswithitsadvancedlightingandopticalsystem.

Spectrallycorrectlight‐emittingdiodes(LEDs)projectlightatsurfacesinsidethe

opticalpieceoftheProDermtooptimallyilluminatetheskinforimaging.



Toimagethesurfaceoftheskin,ProDermusesanachromatic,highdepth‐of‐

field,doubleGausslenssystemthatoffershighperformanceinacompactsize.

ProDermthenprojectstheimageontoacomplementarymetaloxide

semiconductor(CMOS)chip,creatingelectronicsignalsfromapproximatelyfour

millionpixels.Thepixelinformationisanalyzedbypatternrecognitionsoftware

tomeasurediscoloration,linesandwrinkles,texture,andporesize.Pixel

informationisalsousedtocreatetheimagethatisseenontheliquidcrystal

display(LCD)oftheProDerminstrument.

2.5 PREPARINGTOTAKETHESKINATTRIBUTEIMAGES

AccuracyGuidelines



Forthemostaccurateresults,consistent,qualityimagesneedtobetakenofthe

skin.



IMPORTANT:Conductingpracticeprofileswillgreatlyimprovetheconsistency

andaccuracyoftheskinimagesyoutake(20to30practiceprofilesare

recommendedbeforeyouprofileclients).Thesepracticeprofileswillalsohelp

youbecomefamiliarwithandcomfortableusingProDerm.



Followthestepsbeloweachtimeyoupreparetotakeaskinattributeimage.



1. Asktheclienttorelaxsothatfacialfeaturesareatrest.Relaxedskinwill

resultincrisperimages.



6. Toensureoptimalfocus,itisimportantthatyouseethescreenclearly.

Yourlineofsightshouldbedirectlyatthescreen.Youmayneedtohave

theclientturntheirheadtowardyousoyoucanseethescreenclearly

beforeyoucapturetheimage.



7. TheProDerminstrumentdoesnotneedtobestrictlyverticaltotakea

goodimage.Itcanberotatedifneeded.



8. Withpractice,youwillconsistentlytakeimagesinthesamelocation.This

willhelpensurethatwhenyouconductfollow‐upprofiles,thenewsetof

imageswillbeconsistentwiththefirst.



Avoidtheseissues.

1. Skinfeaturesthatcouldbemisinterpreted–forexample,afurrowedbrow

orshadowsfromadeepwrinklemaybeincorrectlyinterpretedas

discolorationduetotheshadowingofawrinkle.



2. Facialfeaturesthatdonotrepresentanoverallskinpattern,suchasmoles,

hairs,andthickrazorstubble,shouldbeavoided.AlthoughProDermcan

screenoutmanyofthesefeatures,youshouldavoidthemwhenpossible.



AvoidMolesandSkinGrowths AvoidStubble

3. Makeupcanadverselyaffecttheprofileresults.Ifaclientwishesto

removetheirmakeupbeforeaprofile,recommendPureCleansingGelor

CreamyCleansingLotion.Usingproductsthatdryouttheskinwillresult

inpoorerimages.Acleanfacewillproduceabetterrepresentationofthe

skinattributes.



4. Avoidtakingpicturesinbrightlightorsunlightasthescreenwillbe

difficulttosee.



5. KeeptheProDerminstrumentsteadyandflushagainsttheskin.



6. Notapplyingconsistentpressureagainsttheskinwillresultindistorted,

poorlyfocusedimages,unevenpressurecreatesinconsistentillumination.

Thiscouldleadtothemisinterpretationofskinattributesbythesoftware.



7. Notenoughpressurecancauseshadowsaroundtheoutsideedgesofthe

image–thisoccurswhenthereisoutsidelightontheimage,orthe

imager’sLEDsarenotabletodirectlightproperlyacrosstheskin.



Asktheclienttorelaxsothatthefacialfeaturesareatrest,andplacetheimager

flushagainsttheskintotaketheimage.Becarefultonotpresstoohardasthis

willflattentheskinartificially.



aroundtheedgeoftheimage.



TIP:SomeProDermusersprefertousethesideofthenoseinsteadofthe

foreheadtoevaluateporesize.Althoughtheimagemaybemoredifficultto

duplicateforfollowupsessions,thisareagenerallyprovidesagoodviewfor

poreanalysisifdesired.



exceedtheampereratingoftheextensioncable.



CertainFederalAviationAdministrationregulationsand/orairline‐specific

restrictionsmayapplytotheoperationofyourinstrumentwhileyouare

onboardanaircraft.Forexample,suchregulations/restrictionsmayprohibitthe

useofanypersonalelectronicdevice(PED)thathasthecapacityforintentional

transmissionofradiofrequencyorotherelectromagneticsignalswhileonan

aircraft.

Additionally,theuseofanyPED,suchasaportableinstrument,maybe

prohibitedinaircraftcertaincriticalphasesofflight,forexample,takeoffand
