The EIRP relaxation for point-to-point operation applies at 2.4 GHz (3:1 rule) and 5.8 GHz (no EIRP limit, i.e.
unlimited antenna gain). At 2.4 GHz, the 3:1 rule is defined as follows. For every 3 dB of antenna gain
exceeding 6 dBi, power delivered to the antenna must be reduced 1 dB below the otherwise permitted maximum
transmitter peak output power of 1 watt (30 dBm or 0 dBW). The power level delivered to the antenna at
2.4 GHz (S-band) in point-to-point operation can be calculated as the lessor of:
Power delivered to antenna = Lesser value in Table 1 or Table 2
30 dBm - (Gain Antenna - 6dBi)
NOTE:
Exceeding specified levels may create an installation that violates FCC Rules and
Regulations or Canadian IC requirements
