IMPORTANT: Before using the YD-V16 Bluetooth® Rearview Mirror Car Charger Bluetooth® Rearview Mirror Speakerphone Velcro Straps INSTALLATION *For added safety, use Velcro straps - Clip and attach the Velcro clips to the back of the mirror (see above image) - Loop the straps around the vehicle rearview mirror - Press Velcro straps together to secure • • Pull the tension clamp and clip to the existing rearview mirror Push the rearview mirror speakerphone until it is flushed against original rearview mirror ! Warning: Do not pull or remove the rearview mirror without pulling apart the tension clamp. B. Low Battery Power Indicator When battery power is low, the device will: • Flash red LED light Recharge the YD-V16 immediately after the low battery indicators are detected. The LED light will not turn on indicating battery power is completely consumed. Follow “Charging The Batteries” instructions above to recharge the YD-V16. The YD-V16 will not power on until it is connected to a power outlet to recharge. Recharge the YD-V16 sufficiently before using. SPEAKERPHONE OPERATIONS Speakerphone: • Fully charge the battery (8 hours continuous) for first time use • Only use rechargeable batteries provided A. Charging the Battery Follow the steps below when charging the YD-V16 Bluetooth® Rearview Mirror Speakerphone • Connect the DC power jack to the YD-V16 Bluetooth® Rearview Mirror Speakerphone • Connect car charger to cigarette power outlet • LED will flash red when charging is initiated • Red LED will flash off when charging is complete ! IMPORTANT: Remove device from cigarette outlet before leaving the vehicle. Do not leave the YD-V16 Bluetooth® Rearview Mirror Speakerphone charging in the vehicle unattended. CAUTION: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. Note: Actual talk time and standby time for the YD-V16 will vary with different Bluetooth® enabled mobile phones due to different implementation of power down modes. A. Power on/off To turn the YD-V16 on: • Press and hold the Power Switch Button until the LED flashes blue • Release the button and wait for YD-V16 Phone Button to enter into search mode Searching • Device will stay in search mode for 5 seconds Power Switch Button (end) • If no device was found, YD-V16 will stay on the screen • To search again, press phone button once to activate search mode Searching Note: Before automatic connection, please make sure Bluetooth® mode on your mobile phone is activated and you must have at least successfully paired and connected to YD-V16 at least once in order to activate this feature. Pairing/Linking Pairing Bluetooth® enabled devices like mobile phones with the YD-V16 Bluetooth® Rearview Mirror Speakerphone authorizes the devices to work with each. This step only needs to be performed once. microphone send volume down volume up end menu status LED It is recommended that you follow the pairing instructions provided by your mobile phone to ensure you successfully pair the YD-V16 Speakerphone with your mobile phone. If you do not have your mobile phone’s instruction manual available, follow the typical pairing instructions below: • Power on the YD-V16 and wait until device completed the search mode • Press and hold MENU for 2 seconds • Screen will indicate Pair Mode • Turn on your mobile phone • Select SET-UP or CONNECT from your mobile phone menu • Find and select OPTION to discover Bluetooth® devices; establishing a connection may take several minutes • If found, phone display should indicate YD-V16 or Select “YD-V16” from the list • Phone should give you a prompt asking if you want to pair the device • Select OK or ACCEPT and wait for prompt to enter passkey or PIN • Enter the code 0000 when a passkey is requested • Select “OK” to pair the YD-V16 and the handset • When pairing is complete, the YD-V16’s LCD will show PAIRING SUCCESSFUL icon Pair OK Note: If the YD-V16 and mobile handset did not successfully pair, follow the steps below to retry pairing: • Turn the phone off; wait for 10 seconds • Turn phone power on • Repeat the pairing instructions from the beginning Before Pairing the YD-V16 Bluetooth® Rearview Mirror Speakerphone: • Ensure the YD-V16 is fully charged • Charging cable is disconnected • You have the pairing instruction of your Bluetooth® wireless phone 10 To Link YD-V16 to your mobile phone after pairing: • Pressing the SEND button of your YD-V16 or • Establishing the connection via your mobile phone ® Note: Make sure Bluetooth has been activated on your mobile phone before you press the SEND button. (Please refer to your mobile’s operation manual about connecting Bluetooth® devices) Once it is connected: • YD-V16 will emit a beep • The mobile’s ID will be displayed on the screen (Ex. “Motorola V3”) C. Phonebook 1. Phonebook Set-up via AT Command AT Command and OPP (Object Push Profile) function can automatically transfer the contacts in your mobile phone to the YD-V16 Rearview Mirror Speakerphone. Note: NOT ALL MOBILE PHONES SUPPORT AT Command and OPP Features To transfer the Phone Book from your mobile phone via AT Command: • Make sure the YD-V16 and mobile phone is connected • Press Menu • Scroll the menu by pressing or button until you see Contact list • Press Menu button to enter Phonebook Transfer Inquire • Press Send button to start or press End button to end • LCD will display Downloading... to indicate Phonebook transfer is in process • Once transfer is successful, LCD will display Download Complete 11 12 2. Phonebook Set-up via OPP The YD-V16 supports single contact or group contacts transfer via OPP function. For details on operating procedures, please refer to your mobile phone’s user manual To transfer the Phone Book from your mobile phone via OPP: • Disconnect Bluetooth® link from the YD-V16 setting (if it is connected) • Setup mobile phone for copying and transferring the contacts from the mobile phone to your YD-V16 Note: Please refer to your mobile phone’s user manual • • • LCD will display Downloading to indicate contacts transfer is in process Once transfer is completed, LCD will show number of records transferred Reconnect the Bluetooth® link of your YD-V16 and mobile phone Note: Some mobile phones are able to register multiple phone numbers under the same name. The YD-V16 phonebook can distinguish the numbers using the letters:for mobile phone number, for home number and for office number 3. Deleting Phonebook entries: To delete Phone Book entry: • Press Menu • Scroll the menu by pressing • Press Send button or button until you see Delete Contact • • • • • LCD will display Yes or No? Press Send button to confirm. LCD will display Deleting Contact while phone book entries are being deleted LCD will display Deleted ALL when phone book is cleared Press End button to return to Main Menu Note: YD-V16 does not allow deleting of a single entry; ALL entries will be deleted after confirmation 4. Speed Dial Set-up Note: Phonebook should be set up first to activate speed dialing. To set up speed dialing: • Press Menu • Scroll the menu by pressing or button until you see Quick Dial • Press Send button • Browse for an empty memory slot by pressing or button. There are a total of 3 memory slots for speed dialing with each slot represented by the button and the Menu button • Press the Menu button after finding an empty slot • Browse the phone number that you wish to set to speed dial • Press Send button to confirm • Press End button to return to Main Menu Note: If a memory slot is empty, user can simply press the desired key for 2 seconds then follow the above procedures. 13 14 To modify/delete speed dialing number: Once you have saved a number for a slot/button, you need to delete it before you can save a new number for that slot/button. To delete a number in a speed dialing entry: • Press Menu • Scroll the menu by pressing or button until you see Quick Dial • Search for the entry that you would like to modify • Press Menu button twice and the screen will show Delete ? • Press Send button to confirm or End button to cancel D. LCD Display To adjust contrast of LCD Display: • Press Menu • Scroll the menu by pressing or button until you see Contrast Setting • Press Send button to enter • The status bar is shown in the contrast menu. This indicates the contrast level of the LCD display • Press the or button to adjust to desired contrast level • Press Send button to save setting E. Volume Adjustments To adjust ring volume: • Press the or button to adjust ring volume To adjust call volume: • Press the or button to adjust the volume during a call To adjust microphone volume during a call: • Press and hold Up button for two seconds to increase microphone volume • Press and hold Down button for two seconds to decrease microphone volume If you cannot hear the person you are talking to on the other line, do the following steps while conversation is in progress: • Adjust the microphone volume of the YD-V16 to maximum level or • Request the person on the other line to adjust his/her mobile phone’s volume level to maximum If there is a strong echo when the person on the other line talks: • Transfer the call to your mobile phone • If echo disappeared, transfer the call to your YD-V16 again and lower the loud speaker volume until echo is reduced/eliminated • If the echo remains, root cause of the echo might be with the network provider or the mobile phone itself. If the loudspeaker volume of the YD-V16 is too low or too high and you are unable to adjust it: • Adjust the volume directly on the mobile phone • Fine tune it using the volume control of the YD-V16 15 Mute/Un-mute Functions To mute the YD-V16 during an active call: • Press Menu button for two seconds 16 To make a call using the voice dialing function: To enter voice dialing mode: • Hold the Send button for 2 seconds • Say the name after you hear the tone To cancel mute: • Press Menu button again Note: If the YD-V16 failed to recognize the voice/name. Press the End to exit and repeat the above steps for voice dialing. F. Call Operations 1. Making a Call To make a call using the phone book: • Press Menu button • Press the or button until you see Contact list • Press Send button to enter • Select name by pressing the or button • Press Send button to enter • Press Send button again to dial To call last number dialed: • Press Send button • Press the or button until you find the desired last dialed number • Press Send button again to dial To call using the speed dialing function: • Press and hold the Menu button or the or button for 2 seconds • Phone will automatically dial the number set to Speed Dial for that particular button button Note: Voice Dialing is a feature of your mobile phone. Please refer to your phone's user manual for voice command operation. 2. Answering Calls To answer calls via the YD-V16: • Press the Send button when ring tone is heard or • Answer the call via the mobile handset 3. Ending Calls To end a call: • Press the End button or • End call using the mobile handset 4. Rejecting Calls To reject a call: • Press the End button 17 18 5. Caller ID Display Note: Caller ID Display is a network service; please consult your network provider for details. 7. Interchanging YD-V16 and Handset You may interchange the call between your handset and YD-V16 while conversation is ongoing Caller ID can be displayed in 3 ways: a) By Name YD-V16 can display the caller’s name when receiving call. To display caller’s name, the name must be stored in the phone book. b) By Phone Number Phone number will be displayed if there is no record of that number in the phone book c) Withheld Number When a caller withholds his number, WITHHELD will be displayed To shift from YD-V16 to handset or vice versa: • Press and hold the Send button for two seconds BUTTON FUNCTIONS Button Function Go to Menu Operation Press 1 time DTMF (Dial Tone Activated only when the line is connected Modulation Frequency) Note: The YD-V16 do not automatically save numbers dialed directly from your mobile phone and will not be displayed. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the YD-V16 is subsequently used Do not use the charger outdoors or in damp areas Avoid charging the YD-V16 in extremely high or low temperatures It is recommended to charge the YD-V16 immediately whenever low battery power is encountered to prolong durability & standby time TROUBLE SHOOTING CARE AND MAINTENANCE • • • • • • • • • • • Turn off the YD-V16 when not in use Attach the YD-V16 carefully and firmly to your rearview mirror (Please refer to instructions on how to attach the YD-V16 to your rearview mirror) Do not let the YD-V16 be in contact with liquid as it is not waterproof. Avoid putting it in places where there is excessive moisture and humidity. Do not expose the YD-V16 to direct sunlight or place in areas with high temperature, as it may result in an explosion If the YD-V16 is not in use for a prolonged period, store in a cool, dry place, free from moisture, humidity and dust Do not use abrasive cleaning solvents to clean the YD-V16 Do not expose the YD-V16 to contact with sharp objects as this will cause scratching and damage Do not stick anything inside the YD-V16 as this may damage internal components Do not attempt to disassemble the YD-V16, as it does not contain serviceable components Only use the manufacturer supplied charger when charging the YD-V16 Only charge the YD-V16’s built-in battery in accordance with the instructions of this user guide If you are unable to pair your mobile phone with the YD-V16: • Make sure the battery is fully charged • Turn off the YD-V16 and turn it on again • Turn off all other Bluetooth® devices before you start pairing • Ensure your mobile handset’s Bluetooth® feature is activated. Please refer to your mobile handset user guide for specific instructions • Repeat pairing procedures • Ensure the YD-V16 is within a maximum of 10 meters of your mobile handset(s) or Bluetooth® enabled device and there are no obstructions, such as wall or other electronic devices, in between as it may cause interference transmission • If all the above steps do not resolve your problem, please remove the battery for at least 20 minutes The YD-V16 Rearview Mirror Speakerphone is compliant with and adopts the Bluetooth® Specification V1.2. However, interoperability between the device and other Bluetooth®-enabled products is not guaranteed because it depends on compatibility.
