General Description Thank you for choosing products of YONGNUO. YN622C-TX E-TTL wireless flash controller is for supporting the use of YN622C E-TTL wireless flash trigger transceiver. This product adopts flexible LCD menu control, supports mixed use of E-TTL(II) mode, manual mode, or super sync flash mode of group A/B/C flash. Supports multi flash, supports E-TTL ratio. It can be adjusted the exposure compensation or flash output of each group. In addition, it supports setting different focal length(zoom)of the three groups of flash, the remote controlled distance up to 100M, supports 7 wireless channels and three groups A/B/C , and is equipped with AF-assist beam emitter. Supports firmware upgrade via USB . Compatible camera : Canon EOS series DSLR Cameras compatible with the shutter release cable (parts): LS-2.5/C1: 60D/70D/400Dseries/500D series/600D series/1000D series LS-2.5/C3: 40D/50D/7D/1D series/5D series Conventions Used in the Manual This manual to assume using compatible camera/flash and YN622C transceiver in the same channel. The features/functions supported by the product depend on the camera and flash used. For the operation of camera, flash ant the YN622C transceiver, please refer to relevant user manuals. For the user manual and firmware of the latest version, please visit the official website of YONGNUO: www.hkyongnuo.com. YN622C-TX YN622C Icon used in this manual: Refers to short press the button. B-2.5MM Shutter release interface: Wireless shutter release function(P.16). C-AF assist beam emitter: (P.14) D-PC interface: Input the flash sync signal(P.15). E-USB interface: Connected to the computer to update the firmware (P.19). Fbutton: Flash mode setting. G-GR/* button: Short press to move the arrow to set flash group or other parameters; Long press to get different functions int different modes. H-TEST button: Long press to wake the flash up, loosen to test the flash(P.12). I-Select/Set button group: Multifunction button group, including the [UP] [DOWN] [LEFT] [RIGHT] and [OK] buttons. J-SYNC/FN button: Short press for flash shutter sync mode setting(P.11), long press for C.FN setting (P.14). K-ZOOM/CH button: short press for zoom setting (P.11), long press for channel setting(P.7) . L-Power switch: Slide to ON for power on. M-Status indicator : The green light will bright when in communication; while the red light will bright when in triggering (or shutter releasing). N-Locking ring and locking pin O-Hot shoe Mounting foot and contacts P-Battery compartment and battery cover Preparation Before Use 1.YN622C Transceiver Settings: Set the receiving group and channel of the transceiver (refer to the user manual of the YN622C). 2.YN622C-TX Controller Settings: 1).Installing the 2 AA (1.5V)batteries (excluded). 2).Installing the Controller on the Camera . 3).Power on when the power switch slides to [ON]. 4).Channel Setting: Long press the [ZOOM/CH] button, then press the select/set button group to the same channel as the YN622C transceiver. Ch1 ZOOM CH Ch1 Ch2 Ch3 Ch4 Ch5 Ch6 Ch7 Settings Flash Mode Setting: GR/TTL/Multi Long press the [ mode GR/TTL/Multi. ] button to switch the flash In GR mode, short press the [ ] button to switch the current group the arrow pointing to; in TTL/Multi mode, short press this button can also switch the flash mode. Examples: 1.GR 2.TTL ZOOM CH 3.Multi Settings 1.GR-Grouping flash mode: set different flash modes for different groups. 1).short press the [GR/*] button to choose the setting groups. 2).Short press the [ ] button to set the flash mode of the selected group, each press of the setting as below: ZOOM CH TTL: E-TTL(II) Fully Automatic Flash The FEC adjustment range is within -3 to +3EV, It’s supported to press select/set button group to adjust the FEC value. If the FEC value is set on the flash, i t will plus with the FEC value set on the controller. M: Manual Flash The adjustment range is within 1/128-1/1, press [LEFT] or [RIGHT] button to adjust, press the [UP] or [RIGHT] button for fine adjustment. SS(Super Sync):refer to P.14. OFF: This group is not participate in flash. *Long press the [GR/*] button to quickly turn off the A/B two groups at the same time. Settings 2.E-TTL(II)Mode -Fully Automatic Flash 1.)Set the flash group: Long press the [GR/*] button to set the TTL flash group. 2.)Set the flash ratio or exposure compensation: Short press the [GR/*] button to select the setting items, then press the select/set button groups to set the parameters. 1. Flash Group- A+B+C(ALL) Set FEC of A/B/C groups at one time. 2. Flash Group- A:B Set flash ratio of A/B group Set FEC of the A/B group(C group does not flash ) 3. Flash Group- A:B C Set flash ratio of A/B group Set FEC of A/B group Set FEC of C group Settings The details of the flash ratio settings as below: Press[LEFT]or[RIGHT] Press[UP]or[DOWN] 3.Multi Flash Mode:Stroboscopic Flash Short press the [GR/*] button to select the items, then press the select/set button groups to set the parameters. Output power Stroboscopic frequency Stroboscopic flash count *The output power of group B/C should be set up respectively through the camera’s menu (P.13) Settings 4.ZOOM:Flash Coverage Setting It supports the controller to set the focal length of the flash on the transceiver. Short press the [ZOOM/CH]button, ZOOM CH set the flash focal length of A/B/C group in sequence, then press the Select/Set button group and set. Settings rang supported manual 24-105mm,AU (Automatic). 5.Flash shutter sync ZOOM CH Short press the [SYNC/FN] button to set the shutter sync mode(except the multi flash).There will be a relevant icon displayed on the LCD. 1st curtain sync 2nd curtain sync high speed sync Flash Awaking and Triggering 1.Flash Awaking&Testing When half press the shutter button of the camera or press the [TEST] button of the controller , the green wake-up indicator light lights on, and the flash on the hot-shoe of the transceiver will be waked up. When loosen the [TEST] button, the flash of the selected groups will be tested for once. 2.Flash triggering Completely press the shutter button of the camera will trigger the flash synchronously, the red triggering indicator light lights on. ZOOM CH Control from Camera ' s Menu Screen When using EOS digital cameras released since 2007, you can set the controller functions from the camera’s menu screen. For the operation of the camera, please refer to the relevant user manual. EOS digital cameras released since 2012:support E TTL II, manual flash, multi flash, group flash (GR). EOS digital cameras released from 2007 to 2011:supports E-TTL II, manual flash, multi flash Under the TTL mode, it supports the camera menu setting FEB function. There will be relevant icon displayed on the controller. (P.4) Supports setting the Group A flash zoom through the camera’s menu . Cancels the FEB functions or turns on/off AF Assist Beam Emitter though the C.FN Settings of the external flash menu. *If the 2nd curtain sync enabled, please set the flash parameters of each group through the controller. *SS flash mode can not be controlled through the camera menu. Custom Function Settings(C.FN) 1).Long press the [SYNC/FN] button. 2).Press the [up] or [down] buttons to select the setting items, then press the [LEFT] or [RIGHT] buttons to set the parameters. 3).Press [OK] to confirm and exit the settings. 01-SS: Super sync delay Settings The range of settings : 0.0-2.0 (refer to P.17) ZOOM CH 02-SHU(Shutter):Wireless shutter function Refer to P.16,can be set to ON/OFF 03-AF: AF assist light function It can be set to ON/OFF, relevant icon will displayed on the screen (refer to P.4) 04-LEG(Legacy Flash Trigger):Single contact trigger function Refer to P.15, can be set to ON/OFF 05-ECO(Ex Compat): EX series flash Compat Refer to P.18, can be set to ON/OFF Other Trigger Modes 2.PC interface & Legacy Flash Trigger PC interface (input) trigger: Use LS-PC/PC cable (option)to connect the controller and the PC interface of camera. (Single Contact) trigger: Install the controller on the camera hot shoe. Legacy Flash Trigger : Basic flash 1).Transmitting group setup: Set base on the groups of the controller (GR). 2).Flash mode setup: Set the manual flash(M) mode through the flash control panel, change the flash output manually, and trigger through the controller's PC interface or main flash contact. High speed sync or other TTL functions are not supported (the highest sync speed is 1/250s or lower). *About the C.FN 04 Legacy Flash Trigger: Please set this custom function as OFF when using the TTL triggering. If it could not operate properly when using the single contact trigger, set as ON. Shutter Release Function Use the YN622C transceiver for wireless transmitting, the YN622C-TX controller as the shutter signal output. YN622C-TX C1 C3 YN622C 1).Use the LS-2.5 series shutter connecting cable to connect the controller and camera’s shutter interface, as for the EOS digital cameras released after 2012, it does not need the shutter connecting cable. 2).Set the C.FN 02 as ON (P.14),turn on the wireless shutter function. 3).Press the [TEST] button of YN622C transceiver (if the flash have installed) and loose, the flash will be triggered once to test the flash. About one second later, the camera shutter will be triggered and will flash synchronously. Supports single shot only. If you do not use the shutter release function, please set the C.FN 02 as OFF. Reference 1. About the Super Sync(SS) Use non-HSS (Non High Speed Sync) flash to realize High Speed Sync. This function is more applicable to strobes flashes whose flash duration is longer. It should be used with cameras which supports High Speed Sync (HSS) and setting SS time delay parameters. A-Set the controller SS time delay parameters in C.FN 01: (refer to Page 14) B-Using Super Sync: 1).Set the flash into manual mode. It supports to use the flash which is set on the hot-shoe of the transceiver or connect the flash through PC port. Setting full power flash output (1/1) may be needed. 2).Set the flash sync speed of the camera as high speed sync, the maximum shutter sync speeds can reach to 1/8000s. Adjust “SS” to a suitable time delay parameters according to the flash model, output power and shutter speed. 3).Take photos and check whether the flash of the photos is synchronous. The gradations or variations of the light will be seen in the photos. The flash result will be different due to different cameras and flashes. 2. About the Automatic Save Function: Then controller will automatically save the settings of channel, grouping, flash mode, AF assist beam emitter etc. Reference 3.About the Ex Compat trigger When using the 430ex/550ex/580ex flash etc. which does not support camera menu controlling the flash, enable this function can use the controller to remote control the manual flash power output of the above flash. 1).Set the C.FN 05 of the controller as ON(P.14). 2).Set the flash on the YN622C as E-TTL flash mode. 3).Set the controller as manual flash under the GR mode, set the flash output. *The flash screen will not display the flash output. *If you do not use the above model flash, please set the C.FN 05 as OFF. 4.About the LCD backlight: Press any button, the LCD backlight will light for 5 seconds. 5.About the battery electricity display : The battery icon in the upper right corner of the LCD will display the current electricity. When in low battery, the battery icon will blink, please replace the battery. 18 Reference 5.Factory Reset ZOOM CH Hold down the [MODE] and [SYNC/FN] buttons at the same time until the screen as shown, then loosen to restore factory settings. 6.USB Firmware Upgrade ZOOM CH 1).Visit YONGNUO official website: http://www.hkyongnuo.com to download the firmware upgrade software and the latest firmware. 2).Turn off . Keep pressing [mode] button and turn on again. The screen will show firmware upgrade interface(will display the current version ). 3).Connect the controller to PC via USB-MINIB cable (not include) . 4).Complete the firmware upgrade operation according to the prompt of software. 19 Troubleshooting 1. Fail to power on or automatic shutdown: The battery is loaded inversely or exhausted. Ø Install the battery according to the correct direction the battery compartment indicates and ensure the battery is full and restart the power . 2. The flash doesn't fire Ø Ensure the power of all equipments are full, the flash is in ready state(the flash-ready indicator on) Ø Ensure the connection among the controller( transceiver), camera and the flash is reliable. Ø Whether the controller and transceivers are set in the same channels and controllable groups. 3. TTL underexposure or overexposure: Check whether the camera body or the flash sets exposure compensation. It may be underexposed if exceeds the effective flash distance. It may overexpose when TTL and manual flash are used at the same time, at this time the manual flash suits to be used as a backlight. When other trouble occurs during using, it's suggested to deal with the trouble with the procedures as below: 1). Restart all the equipments. 2). Replace the batteries of the controller and transceivers. 3).
