Please read this user’s manual carefully before use. Brief introduction 1. Bluetooth wireless communication technology Bluetooth is a standard of close range radio-communication technology that was drawn up by Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Nokia and Toshiba. With Bluetooth technology, we can achieve the highest transmission rate among mobile phones, computers, printers, PDAs and other devices. The max transmission range of class II is 10 meters while the max transmission range of class I can reach up to 100 meters. 2. About BTE018 BTE018 is a Bluetooth mono headset. It has the following features: Answer a call, end a call and reject a call Redial last number Voice dial (This function needs to be supported by your mobile phone) Call transfer between BTE018 and your mobile phone Microphone mute Before use 1. Overview Multi-function button (MFB): Power on/power off/answer a call/end a call/reject a call/cancel calling/microphone mute/call transfer/redial last number/voice dial Built-in microphone Ear cap Loudspeaker Charging jack LED indicator 2. Charging the headset The headset comes with a built-in rechargeable battery, prior to using it, it is recommended to charge the battery fully for the first time. Connect the charger to a computer USB port or a standard power outlet and the charger plug to the charging jack of the headset. The red LED is on while charging. It takes about 1.5 hours to charge the battery fully. When charging is completed, the red LED is off. When the headset is on and the battery becomes low, the LED flashes red and the headset emits a string of indication tones every 15 seconds. Please recharge the battery fully as described above. Warning: 1) The battery is recycled. 2) Batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat place, such as sunshine, fire or the like. Getting started 1. Power on/off Function Operation LED indicator ~ ~ Press and hold MFB button Blue LED is on for 1 Power on for 3 5 seconds second Press and hold MFB button Red LED is on for 1 Power off for 3 5 seconds second Entering Make sure BTE018 is off, LED flashes red and pairing then press and hold MFB blue alternately mode button for 6 7 seconds Remark: In order to save power, the headset will turn off automatically if no devices can be connected after 10 minutes. ~ 2. Pairing with a Bluetooth mobile phone Prior to using the headset for the first time, you have to pair it with a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone. The pairing procedures are subject to different models of mobile phones. Please refer to your mobile phone’s user’s manual for further information. The general pairing procedures are as follows: 1) Place the headset and Bluetooth mobile phone where they are easily viewable by no more than 1 meter apart; 2) Enter BTE018’s pairing mode (please refer to “Power on/off”); 3) Activate your mobile phone’s Bluetooth function and set your mobile phone to search for Bluetooth devices within range, and select “BTE018” from the list of devices shown; 4) According to the indication, enter password or PIN No:”0000” 5) If prompted by your mobile phone to connect, select “Yes” (this will vary among mobile phone models); 6) Go back to your mobile phone’s main menu. For certain mobile phone models, a headset icon will be shown on the screen. You should now be able to make and receive a call using the headset. Remarks: Pairing mode will last 2 minutes. The headset will switch to standby mode automatically if on devices can be connected after 2 minutes. If you want to continue pairing the headset with a Bluetooth device, please turn off the headset first and then try re-pairing according to steps 1 6 mentioned above. After successful pairing, the headset and your mobile phone will remember each other, it will no need to repair next time. The headset can remember 8 paired devices. When the number of devices exceeds 8, the first one will be replaced. ~ 3. Replacing ear cap Four different sizes of ear caps are included. You can replace the ear cap according to ear size and personal preferences. Herein take replacing large ear cap for example, what you need to do are: 1) Remove the large ear cap from the loudspeaker; 2) Put the small ear cap onto the loudspeaker. 4. Please refer to your mobile phone’s user’s manual for further information. When pressing the answer button on some mobile phones, the call will be transferred to the mobile phone. You have to transfer the call to the headset by using call transfer function of the headset or operating on the mobile phone. Please refer to your mobile phone’s user’s manual for further. Please be advised to turn off your mobile phone’s Bluetooth function if you are not going to make a call with the headset in anytime soon. 5. Re-connecting with a Bluetooth device 1) Automatic connecting Every time BTE018 is turned on, it will connect to the last connected device automatically. 2) Connecting manually When BTE018 is in standby mode and doesn’t connect to a Bluetooth device, press MFB button once, the headset will connect to the last connected device . Remarks: BTE018 only tries to connect to the last connected HFP device. Please enable Bluetooth on your Bluetooth device before trying to connect. On some Bluetooth devices, take some Nokia mobile phones for example, you need to set up “allow automatic connecting” on the phone. 6. Following these you will be able to enjoy our product for many years. Consider turning the headset off before placing it in your pocket or bag. If the MFB button is accidentally depressed, your mobile phone may place an unintended call. Do not expose the headset to liquid, moisture or humidity to avoid the product’s internal circuit being affected. Don’t use abrasive cleaning solvents to clean the headset. Do not expose the headset to extremely high or low temperature as this will shorten the life of electronic devices, destroy the battery or distort certain plastic parts. Don’t dispose of the headset in a fire as it will result in an explosion. Don’t expose the headset to contact with sharp objects as this will cause scratches and damage. Don’t attempt to disassemble the headset as it may get damaged if you are not professional. In case the product doesn’t function properly, send it to the store you bought it. The staff will help you to solve the problem. FAQs 1 Why does red LED flash ? The headset is low power, it needs to be recharged. 2 Why isn’t red LED on when charging? a) Please make sure the charger connects well with the headset; b) When you doesn’t use the headset for a long time, the battery may dry up. At this time, you need to charge the battery for 30 minutes, and then the red LED will be on. 3 How far is the effective range between the headset and Bluetooth mobile phone? According to the Bluetooth standard, the max. controllable range of Class II headset is 10 meters. It varies under different environment. 4 What to do when my mobile phone can not search and find the headset? Your mobile phone will not find the headset if the headset and your mobile phone are not under the pairing mode. Make sure the headset is under the pairing mode and in the effective working range, and then the headset can be paired and connected. a) b) c) d) Why can’t I hear the voice from the headset? Make sure the headset is power on; Ensure the volume of the headset is not too low or mute; Make sure the headset connects well with your mobile phone; Ensure the distance between the headset and your mobile phone is in the normal working scope. 6 Why is there no voice when making a call with the headset? a) Make sure your mobile phone is in the strong signal area; b) Ensure the headset is in the function range. 7. I can’t turn off the headset. What shall I do now? When you start charging the headset, it will turn off automatically.
