Faults and damageIf there is any reason to suspect that the safety of the device has been im-paired, it must be withdrawn from use and removed immediately from the hazardous-area. Measures must be taken to prevent it from being restarted accidentally. The safety of the device may be compromised, if, for example: • There is visible damage to the housing. • The device has been subjected to excessive loads. • The device has been improperly stored. • The device has been damaged in transit. • Device markings or inscriptions are illegible. • Malfunctions occur. • Permitted limit values have been exceeded.3. Safety regulationsUse of the Ex-RSM Aurelis BT* intrinsically safe speaker microphone set as-sumes that the operator observes the conventional safety regulations and has read the certicate of conformity in order to eliminate faulty operation of the device.3.1 Special condition of safe useThe following points are to be observed:• Do not disassemble the device.• Friction of the housing should be avoided as far as possible for electrostatic reasons.• Only accessories approved by ecom instruments GmbH refer to clause 3.2 may be used or see relevant product page at www.ecom-ex.com. • The unit may not be used in close proximity to processes generating high charges.
4• It must be ensured that the device is not taken into zones 0 or 20.• In IIC (Zone) hazardous areas the applicant has to ensure that the Metal Part of the Belt Clip is electrostatically earthed, e.g. by the use of ESD clothing.• The belt clip shall only be installed outside of the hazardous areas.• The belt clip shall not be removed from the device inside hazardous areas.• The battery module may only be charged outside the hazardous areas and only by using safety box ‘SB01’ in between the power plug and the device.• For charging rst connect the safety box “SB01” to the Ex-RSM Aurelis BT, then connect the safety box to an USB-A socket. Functional description / operating instructionsPlease read these operating instructions carefully so that you are familiar with, and are able to use, all of the functions of your Ex-RSM Aurelis BT. For your own safety and information please read through the instructions on the following pages!6.1 Functional descriptionPTTðMic Multi-Function-Button (MFB)òñAccessorieshighlowVolume6.2 Start-up6.2.1 Charging of the batteryBefore you rst switch on the device, please make sure the battery is fully charged. The battery should be charged for the rst time for at least 5-6 hours.6.2.2 Connection to mobile phonesYou can turn the Ex-RSM Aurelis BT on while pushing the button On/Off for approx. 2-3 seconds until the button ashes in red and blue colors. The Ex-RSM Aurelis BT reports with the message “Bluetooth On”.If you connect the Ex-RSM Aurelis BT to a mobile phone, please make sure the Bluetooth of the mobile phone is switched on. For more detailed instruction ple-ase look at your mobile phones instruction manual.
7Please “Search for new Bluetooth devices” at your mobile phone. Now “Aurelis Bluetooth” appears at your display. When you rst time connect the Ex-RSM Aurelis BT to the phone you have to type in a PIN. The PIN for the Ex-RSM Aurelis BT is “0000”.Now you can connect the mobile phone to the remote speaker microphone. The Ex-RSM Aurelis reports with “Bluetooth connected”.6.2.3 Control options• Accept incoming calls Short press on MFB to accept.• Reject incoming calls Long press on MFB to reject.• End call Short press on MFB to end call.• Last dialed number Double click on MFB to initiate call to last dialed number. 7. Safety precautions for the batteryDamaged batteries and chargers should be removed from use and sent to ecom instruments GmbH for inspection.Note:Extreme temperatures can have an adverse effect on charging the battery module.- Do not dispose of the battery module in a re.- Do not short-circuit the battery module.- Dispose of the battery module in accordance with local regulations.Do not dispose of the battery module with normal household waste.High quality lithium-ion batteries are used in your Ex-RSM Aurelis BT. These batteries have numerous advantages in everyday use, such as a low weight and high capacity in a nevertheless compact construction. In addition these batteries also exhibit practically no memory effect. However, these batteries are susceptible to a natural ageing process which impairs their functionality. Modern batteries today have a lifespan of around 500 charge cycles, which, when used daily, corresponds to a service life of approximately 2 years. The ageing process increases rapidly after this period, which means that the bat-teries are deemed technically defective after 500 charge cycles.
8Moreover, the battery cells could expand and cause irreparable damage to your device in a worst case scenario. For this reason rechargeable batteries with lithium cells should be replaced after 2 years at the latest or after re-aching a battery capacity that is 50% of its initial value.8. The costs associated with returning devices to ecom instruments GmbH are to be borne by the sender. In accordance with Article 1, Section 18 and Article 2 of the Act revising the law of Waste-Related Product Responsibility for Batteries and Accumulators (Gesetz zur Neuregelung der abfallrechtlichen Produktverantwortung für Batterien und Akkumulatoren) dated 25 June 2009, we are obligated to provide the following information.Your device contains a rechargeable lithium battery.Depleted batteries or rechargeable batteries that can no longer be rechar-ged should never be disposed of along with normal or household waste. Old batteries can contain harmful substances that are hazardous to health and damaging to the environment. Please return the batteries/rechargeable bat-teries. This excludes all parts that are subject to wear and tear (e.g. ear pads, windscreen, earpieces and other such components).This warranty does not extend to products that are used improperly, have been modied, neglected, damaged on accidents or exposed to abnormal op-erating conditions and inappropriate handling. Any claims under the warranty can be invoked by returning the defective equipment to the manufacturer. We reserve the right to repair, adjust or exchange the device. Il est recommandé de les envoyer à ecom instruments GmbH en vue de leur vérication.Remarque :Les températures extrêmes peuvent affecter la capacité de votre module batterie à se charger.• Ne pas jeter au feu le module batterie.• Ne pas court-circuiter le module batterie.• Éliminer le module batterie conformément à la législation locale.Ne pas jeter le module batterie dans une poubelle pour ordures ménagères.L‘Ex-RSM Aurelis BT comporte des batteries lithium Ion haute performance. Ces éléments offrent de nombreux avantages au quotidien, parmi lesquels, un poids léger et de haute capacité malgré une conception compacte. Par ailleurs, ils ne présentent quasiment aucun effet mémoire. Ces batteries sont toutefois soumises à un vieillissement naturel qui entrave leur fonctionne-ment. Les éléments de batterie moderne ont actuellement une durée de vie d’environ 500 cycles de charge, ce qui correspond à une durée d’utilisation d’environ 2 ans si l‘appareil est utilisé quotidiennement. Une fois cette durée écoulée, le vieillissement naturel s’accélère, de sorte que les éléments sont
18techniquement considérés comme étant défectueux au bout de 500 cycles de chargement. Les éléments de la batterie risquent en outre de goner et, dans le pire des cas, causer des dommages irréparables à votre appareil.Pour cette raison, il est recommandé de remplacer les accumulateurs au lithium au plus tard au bout de 2 ans ou dès lors que la capacité de l’accumulateur a atteint 50 % de sa capacité initiale.8.
