Vehicle Asset Communicator (VAC4) TM PowerBox Installation Guide This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and Industry Canada License-Exempt RSS Stadard(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interface, and (2) This device must accept any interferences received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. VAC4 Installation PowerBox TM Vehic Choose the VAC location. 085-00000590_01 VAC4 Installation PowerBox TM Vehic Using the bracket base as a template, mark the mounting hole locations on the vehicle mounting surface, as shown below. Verify that the marked locations are 60 mm (2 3/8") apart. The VAC mounting bracket can be configured in multiple ways to accomodate the desired mounting location. If needed, change the VAC mounting bracket orientation by following the instruction sheet supplied with the bracket. 60 mm (2 3/8") Remove the bracket. Using a 6.75 mm (17/64") bit, drill holes at the two marked locations. If the VAC to vehicle and Impact Sensor cables will be routed through the vehicle’s mounting surface, drill a 25 mm (1”) hole at the exact center point between the two holes marked in Step 4 [30 mm (1 3/16”) from either hole]. If the cables will be routed along the vehicle’s mounting surface, do not drill a center hole and skip to Step 9. 085-00000590_01 6.75 mm (17/64") 25 mm (1”) (optional center hole) VAC4 Installation PowerBox TM Vehic Route the VAC cable (with 10-pin connector) and Impact Sensor cable (with 8-pin connector) up through the center hole. Route the VAC and Impact Sensor cables through the grommet, and then fit the grommet snugly into the center hole. Impact Sensor Cable (8-pin) VAC Cable (10-pin) Feed the VAC and Impact Sensor cables through the VAC bracket. Attach the bracket to the vehicle using the supplied bolts and nuts. Skip to Step 10. Use supplied hardware: Topside of Vehicle Mounting Surface M6 X 1.0 X 25 mm Socket Head Screw M6 ID Washer Underside of Vehicle Mounting Surface 085-00000590_01 M6 ID Washer M6 Nylon Lock Nut VAC4 Installation PowerBox TM Vehic If the VAC and Impact Sensor cables are being routed along the mounting surface, route the cables through the slot at the base of the VAC bracket. Attach the bracket to the vehicle using the supplied bolts and nuts. Proceed to Step 10. Use supplied hardware: Topside of Vehicle Mounting Surface 10 M6 X 1.0 X 25 mm Socket Head Screw M6 ID Washer Slot at base of VAC bracket to be used for cable routing Underside of Vehicle Mounting Surface M6 ID Washer M6 Nylon Lock Nut Connect the VAC and Impact Sensor cables pin connectors to their respective ports. Note: Verify that the connector latches are engaged to ensure that the cables are secured to the VAC. 11 The 10-pin VAC cable connector to port C101. Slide the VAC onto the bracket and secure using the supplied nuts and threaded studs. Use supplied nuts: M5 Serrated Hex Nut 085-00000590_01 The 8-pin Impact Sensor cable connector to port C103. Mounting the Impact Sensor PowerBox TM Vehic Mount the impact sensor at a stable section of the vehicle’s frame. Select a location that is not prone to vibration or routine shock and is as close to the center of the vehicle as possible (see below). center of vehicle 12 085-00000590_01 Clean the vehicle surface prior to adhering the impact sensor’s double-sided tape.
