Important information
Running-in procedures
Detailed information regarding the running-in procedures for the
car can be found under the heading ‘Running-in procedures’ on
page 65.
Fuel
This handbook refers to cars fitted with catalytic converters in the
exhaust system.
This car can be run on either unleaded fuel or bioethanol E85, or
any mixture ratio of these two fuels.
For further information, refer to the heading ‘Fuel specification’
on page 133.
Occupant restraints
This car is equipped with driver and passenger air bag
supplementary restraint systems, thorax protection on the outer
portion of each seat backrest and side head protection within each
side of the upper trim panels.
For maximum safety in all types of accidents, or if the car is stopped
suddenly, the driver and all passengers should, at all times, be
restrained by the safety belts provided. Air bag protection does
not reduce the necessity to wear a safety belt.
For the sake of the environment
Undeployed air bag modules and pre-tensioners are classified as
Perchlorate Material – Special handling may apply. See
www.dtsc.ca.gov/hazardouswaste/perchlorate. When the vehicle or
parts of the restraint system including air bag modules safety belts with
pre-tensioners are scrapped, all applicable laws and regulations must
be observed. Your authorised Bentley dealer is familiar with these
requirements and we recommend that you have your Dealer perform
this service for you.
Service
The importance of regular servicing on a time expired or mileage
basis cannot be over-emphasised.
The driver information panel displays a reminder when the car is
due for service. However, it is the responsibility of the owner to
ensure that the car is maintained in accordance with the specified
service schedules. It is strongly recommended that all maintenance
and repair work is carried out by an authorised Bentley dealer.
Work carried out under the terms of the Warranty given with
each new car must be performed by an authorised Bentley dealer.
The Bentley insignia is displayed by authorised Bentley dealers who
will have factory trained personnel, up-to-date technical
information, specialist tools, and approved parts. Similarly, should
coachwork or paintwork repairs be required, the use of an
authorised Bentley dealer is recommended. Work arranged and
undertaken at these establishments will be carried out using
approved procedures and materials.
Warranty
Detailed information on warranties applicable to cars conforming
to certain market specifications can be found in the Service
Handbook.

Data recorded by car control modules
This vehicle is equipped with an Event Data Recorder (EDR). The
main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near
crash-like situations, such as an air bag deployment or hitting a
road obstacle, data that will assist in understanding how a vehicle’s
systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data related
to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time,
typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed
to record such data as:
How various systems in your vehicle were operating;
Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were
buckled/fastened;
How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator
and/or brake pedal; and
How fast the vehicle was traveling.
These data can help provide a better understanding of the
circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur.
Note
EDR data are recorded by your vehicle only if a non-trivial crash situation
occurs; no data are recorded by the EDR under normal driving conditions
and no personal data (e.g., name, gender, age and crash location) are
recorded. However, other parties, such as law enforcement, could
combine the EDR data with the type of personally identifying data
routinely acquired during a crash investigation.
To read data recorded by an EDR, special equipment is required,
and access to the vehicle or the EDR is needed. In addition to the
vehicle manufacturer, other parties, such as law enforcement, that
have the special equipment, can read the information if they have
access to the vehicle or the EDR.

Installing additional electrical equipment Operating your vehicle outside the USA or Canada
Government regulations in the United States and Canada require
that automobiles meet specific emission regulations and safety
standards. Therefore, vehicles built for the USA and Canada differ
from vehicles sold in other countries.
If you plan to take your vehicle outside the continental limits of
the United States or Canada, possible service, repair or
maintenance issues that you may encounter include, but are not
limited to the following:
Unleaded fuels for vehicles with catalytic converters may not
be available.
Fuel may have a considerably lower octane rating and may
cause engine damage.
Service may be inadequate due to lack of proper service
facilities, tools or testing equipment.
Replacement parts may not be readily available.
DVD navigation systems (where applicable) for vehicles built
for the USA and Canada will not necessarily work in Europe,
and may not work in other countries outside of North
America.
Note
Bentley Motors Limited cannot be responsible for mechanical damage
that could result from inadequate fuel, service or parts availability.
WARNING
Bentley cannot accept responsibility for the installation of
equipment it has not approved.
Therefore, prior to purchasing or fitting any equipment including
security or tracking devices always seek advice and approval from
Bentley.
The electrical systems must not be modified to facilitate fitting
features other than those supplied and fitted by an authorised
Bentley dealer.
Bentley cannot be held responsible for damage which occurs due
to failure to comply with these stipulations.
Refer to additional information under the heading ‘Radio
transmitters and business equipment’ on page 285 and the
‘Warranty section’ in the Service Handbook.
