Powering the PrinterThere are two ways to power the printer:◆Using a battery. See "Installing the Battery" formore information.◆Using the optional AC power adapter. Battery and Safety Information◆You must charge a battery before using it.◆The printer uses a 7.4V lithium-ion battery.WARNINGUse only Monarch chargers (Monarch® 9461Single Station Charger or the Monarch® 9464Four Station Charger) designed for lithium-ionbatteries when charging. The battery mightexplode if placed on a different charger.◆Charging time is approximately 1.5 to 3 hours.◆Take the battery out of the printer when storing theprinter for long periods of time.◆The battery storage temperature is 40°F to 104°F(4°C to 40°C). Do not store a fully charged batteryat temperatures greater than 104°F (40°C) for longperiods of time. The battery may permanently losecharging capacity.◆Disposal information - Do not throw in trash.Dispose according to your local regulations.CAUTIONDo not disassemble, short circuit, heat above80°C, or incinerate. LOADING SUPPLIES 2This chapter describes how to load supply for◆non-peel mode (prints on continuous strip of supply).◆peel mode (prints and separates the label from theliner).Loading tips:◆Whenever you open and close the supply door,press the O button to calibrate the supply under theprinthead.◆The printer may be on or off when loading supplies.Loading for Non-Peel Mode Use these instructions to load labels, tags, receiptpaper, and linerless labels (supply without a liner). Clean the printhead with a clean soft clothmoistened with isopropyl alcohol, a cleaning pen, ora small brush.CAUTIONThe printhead is sensitive to static electricity,which can damage the printhead or reduce itslife. Ground yourself by touching some metalbefore touching the printhead. 5. Clean the platen roller with a clean soft clothmoistened with isopropyl alcohol or a cleaning pen.6. Thesupply door should swing open.3. If necessary, remove the roll of supplies.4. Remove the jammed supplies and reload the supply.5. Close the supply door.6. PRINTER OPTIONS CThis appendix lists the options that may be installed inyour printer. ◆IRDA◆Linerless◆RF LinkIRDAInfrared Data Association - A wireless solution that useslight energy to transfer signals to and from the printerand a host. This system has narrow transmitting/receiving signals and works best when stationed next tothe host with no objects in the way. The maximumoperating range is 3 feet. The system is automaticallyset-up when the printer (on or off) is next to the host.LinerlessThe printer is configured to use supplies without thebacking paper. A linerless platen roller needs to beinstalled. If it is not installed, refer to the OperatingInstructions (TC9460ACPROI) included with the platenroller.RF LinkRadio Frequency Link - A radio device that transferssignals to and from the printer and a host. Thiswireless solution can transmit signals throughnon-metalic objects and has an operating range ofabout 10 feet.
