Disconnect t he power supply prior t o rem oving or adding com ponent s. Discharge your body and all t ools used prior t o cont act ing any com ponent s on t he int erior of t he device! Touch elect ronically sensit ive part s carefully and at t he corners! 2 .3 Re sidu a l r isk s Even if all precaut ions have been t aken, t here m ay be unapparent residual risks! The inst allat ion m ay only be carried out by specifically t rained personnel. ■ Observe all warnings. I nst allat ion is only allowed in an int erior room at a const ant t em perat ure bet ween - 20 ° C / - 4 ° F and + 50 ° C / 122 ° F, and a relat ive hum idit y bet ween 25% and 85% . Never use t he device near or in wat er. Never pour liquids of any t ype over t he device. I f t he device should accident ally com e in cont act wit h liquid, disconnect it and have it checked by a t echnician. Do not inst all t he device near heat sources such as radiat ors, heat regist ers, st oves or ot her devices ( including am plifiers) t hat generat e heat . Do not inst all t he device in a flam m able environm ent . Do not inst all t he device in t he vicinit y of volt age lines or ot her power lines wit h which t hey could collide ( for exam ple, when drilling) , which could result in serious inj uries or even deat h. The device ( especially t he ant enna) should not be inst alled in t he im m ediat e vicinit y of elect rical equipm ent such as m edical devices, m onit ors, t elephones, TV set s, m agnet ic disks and m et al obj ect s. This could result in reduced read and writ e ranges. Never use t he device in explosive areas ( such as paint warehouses) . CAUTI ON ATTEN TI ON Do not use t he device in areas where it is exposed t o vibrat ions or shocks. The inst allat ion locat ion m ust be adequat ely illum inat ed during t he inst allat ion. Never inst all t he device during a light ning st orm . Verify t hat t he inst allat ion m eet s t he requirem ent s of t he ( count ry- specific) FCC for hum an exposure t o radio frequencies. CAUTI ON I nst alling t he device wit hout special t raining can result in dam age t o t he reader and/ or connect ed devices. 4 .3 Un pa ck in g The device and t he accessories are packed under clean- room condit ions. I n order t o m aint ain t his condit ion, t he device m ust also be unpacked in clean- room condit ions. D isposin g of t h e pa ck a ging m a t e r ia l The packaging m at erial consist s of cardboard and foil. Dispose of t hese m at erials separat ely and observing t he respect ive legal regulat ions of your count ry. I f necessary, clean it before inst alling t he device. The device m ust be inst alled so t hat air can freely circulat e vert ically t hrough t he heat sink, and t he operat ing and environm ent al condit ions specified under Technical dat a are m et at all t im es. The reader can only be used properly if t he t ransponder is locat ed wit hin t he individual reading/ writ ing range of t he respect ive ant enna. I f t he t ransponder is very close t o t he ant enna, t he t ransponder m ay be det uned by t he m et al of t he ant enna and a reading/ writ ing is not possible. We recom m end keeping a m inim um dist ance bet ween t ransponder and ant enna of about 10 m m . 4 .6 D AN GER Pow e r su pply Risk of de a t h fr om da nge r ous volt a ge Risks exist when supplying t he device wit h t he incorrect volt age. Only use cables, plugs and adapt ers supplied by t he m anufact urer. Observe power rat ings of t he t echnical dat a ( Technical dat a) . The device can be connect ed t o an int ernal power supply of t he syst em or t o an ext ernal power supply. Once t he device is connect ed t o t he power supply, t he power LED light s up. A norm al RS232 ext ension cable can be used.
