Description: InstallingaBudderflyadaptertransformsyourbuilding’sexistingwiringintothe“BudderflyOpenNetwork”andallowsthe adaptertomonitorenergyconsumptionandcommunicatethedatatoafacilitycontroller. BudderflyadaptorswillusetheexistingpowerlineandtheRFforcommunicationandthusrequirenoreͲwiring. UsingourBudderflysoftware,youcanvisualizeconsumptiondataandmanageeachindividualadapter. The Budderfly MultiͲWay light switch is a component of the Budderfly system and designed to work with all other Budderflydevices.ItisaplugͲandͲplayreplacementforyourexistinglightswitch.Onceinstalled,theBudderflyswitches alsoactasrepeaterstoextendtherangeofthenetworkandincreaseefficiency. WARNING–ELECTRICALSHOCKHAZARD x TheBudderflyMultiͲWaylightswitchisintendedforinstallationinaccordancewiththeNationalElectricCodeand localregulationsintheUnitedStates. x Ifyouarenotknowledgeableorcomfortablewithelectricalcircuitry,youshouldhaveaqualifiedelectricianinstall theBudderflyMultiͲWaylightswitchforyou. PartNoS0811011 Installation: TheBudderflyMultiͲWaylightswitchmaybeusedinnewinstallationsortoreplaceanexistingwallswitch.Itcouldbeusedeitherasa2Ͳwayswitch,orasa3Ͳwayswitch.Thewiring stepsforbothconfigurationsareexplainedinthefollowingdiagrams: 2ͲWayConfiguration: 3ͲWayConfiguration: WiringInformation x Important:Budderflyswitchesareratedforandintendedtobeusedonlywith copperwires. o. x Use12AWGorlargerwiressuitablefor80 x Remove3/4"(1.9cm)ofinsulationfromeachwire. x Connectasfollows:Twiststrandsofeachendtightlytogether.Holdbareends ofwirestogetherandpushfirmlyintowireNut.ScrewNutclockwisemaking surethatnobareconductorshowsbelowtheconnector. 1. Atthecircuitbreakerorfusepanel,disconnectthepowerforallofthecircuitsin theswitchjunctionbox. 2. Double Check that the power is OFF to the switch box before continuing by tryingtoturnonthecontrolledload. 3. Remove the wall plate from the switch you are replacing. Then, unscrew the switchitselfandpullitoutfromthejunctionbox. 4. Disconnectthewiresfromtheswitchyouarereplacing. 5. Followthewiringinformationprovidedbelowtoconnectthewiresasfollows: o ConnecttheGROUNDwire(usuallyBareCopperorGreen)totheGroundwire ofBudderflySwitch(Yellow&Green). o 2ͲWayconfiguration: ConnecttheLOADwire(usuallyBlack)thatgoestothelighttothe Traveler#1(Red)wireofBudderflySwitch. o 3ͲWayconfiguration: ConnecttheTraveler#1(UsuallyRed)andTraveler#2(UsuallyBlue)wires oftheStandardMultiͲWaySwitchtotheTraveler#1(Red)andTraveler#2 (Blue)wiresofBudderflySwitchrespectively. ConnecttheLOADwire(usuallyBlack)thatgoestothelighttotheLOAD wire(usuallyBlack)oftheStandardMultiͲWaySwitch. o ConnecttheLINEwire(usuallyBlack)thatcomesfromtheelectricalservice paneltotheHOTwireofBudderflySwitch(Black). o ConnecttheNEUTRALwire(usuallyWhite)totheNeutralwireofBudderfly Switch(White). 6. Afteryouhaveconnectedallofthewires,ensurethatallofthewireconnectors arefirmlyattachedandthatthereisnoexposedcopperexceptfortheGROUND wire. 7. GentlyplaceBudderflyswitchintothejunctionbox,orientingtheunitwiththe LEDbarontheleft.Then,screwtheswitchintoplace. 8. Reinstallthewallplate 9. Enablepowertotheswitchfromthecircuitbreakerorfusepanel 10. After the Power LED comes on, test that the switch is working properly by turningthelightonandoff 11. AddthedeviceaddresstotheBudderflywebapplication. DeviceGrouping: Ͳ UsingtheBudderflywebapplication,itispossibletocreateaGroupofdevicesthatcanbe controlledremotelysimultaneouslywithjustoneclick. Ͳ Budderflyswitchescanjoin/disjoingroupsatanytime. Powerconsumption: Budderfly switches will measure the current, voltage, power and energy consumed by the connectedload,andwillstorethecumulativeenergyconsumption. The data can be accessed at any time thru the Budderfly software. The user can generate reports,monitortheconsumptionorcheckexpenses. LEDIndicators: TheBudderflyswitchesareequippedwithtwoLEDstoindicatethecurrentstateofthedevice. The Budderfly MultiͲWay light switchesuse the power line and radio frequency to communicatewiththeBudderflyFacilityController. The switches have the capability to respond to (but not limited to) the following commands: x TurnON/OFF:TheconnectedlightingloadwillturnON/OFF. x Join/Disjoingroup“X”:TheswitchwillJoin/Disjointhegroup“X”.Eachswitchcan beamemberofseveralgroupsatthesametime. x DirectRTCsynchronization:Theswitchcanreceiveacommandtosynchronizeits “RealTimeClock” x Get Actual Measurement: When the switch receives a “Get Measurement” command,itwillsendbacktothefacilitycontrollerastringofdatathatcontains: Ͳ TheCurrentinAmpere“A”.
