Specifically designed t o work as an indust rial PDA, t he 9200 Mobile Com put er provides
rich opt ions of dat a collect ion, voice and dat a com m unicat ion, long- last ing working hours,
and so on. I t s large color t ransflect ive/ t ransm issive TFT display guarant ees ease in
reading in all light ing condit ions. I nt egrat ed wit h Bluet oot h and 802.11b/ g t echnologies,
you m ay choose t o include a GSM/ GPRS m odule t o gain great er speeds and opt im al

POWER ON/OFF MOBILE COMPUTER
POWER ON
To power on t he m obile com put er, press and hold t he power but t on
locat ed on t he
upper right of t he keypad. The m obile com put er opens t o show t he Hom e Screen.
Not e: For t he m obile com put er t o power on, t he bat t ery cover m ust be secured in place.
POWER OFF
To power off t he m obile com put er, press and hold t he power but t on
for m ore t han
t hree seconds. A m enu will appear on- screen t o allow select ion bet ween rest art and
power off. Make sure all user dat a and t asks have been st ored before t apping Pow e r off.

CONNECTING HEADSET
The headset j ack is locat ed on t he left side of t he m obile com put er. You can use t he
headset for audio playback or com m unicat ion via t he phone applicat ion, audio inst ant
m essaging, et c.

Connect t he headset t o t he headset j ack.
3.
Replace t he rubber cover.

CHARGING & COMMUNICATION
The m ain bat t ery m ay not be charged t o full for shipm ent . When you first receive t he kit
package, you will need t o charge t he m ain bat t ery t o full before using t he m obile
com put er. You m ay use t he Snap- on Cable or Charging & Com m unicat ion Cradle along
wit h a power adapt er t o charge t he m obile com put er.
Charging Time
 Main bat t ery: I t t akes approxim at ely 4 hours t o charge an em pt y bat t ery t o full. The
charging LED above t he screen ( locat ed on t he right ) will light up in red while
charging and will t urn green when charging is done.
When t he m ain bat t ery is rem oved, RTC ret ent ion will be m aint ained.
Charging Temperature
 I t is recom m ended t o charge t he bat t ery at room t em perat ure ( 18° C t o 25° C) for
opt im al perform ance.
 Bat t ery charging st ops when t he t em perat ure drops below 0° C or exceeds 45° C.
Operation on Battery Power
 When 802.11b/ g, GSM/ GPRS, and Bluet oot h are all enabled on bat t ery power, t he
m ain bat t ery charge will drop down subst ant ially.
 I n order t o prevent syst em shut down aft er t he bat t ery is drained out , we suggest
t hat you keep a fresh bat t ery for replacem ent at all t im es or connect t he m obile
com put er t o an ext ernal power.
USING WIRELESS NETWORKS
The m obile com put er support s widely applied wireless t echnologies, Bluet oot h and
802.11b/ g, and is able t o send/ receive dat a in real t im e in an efficient way. Select
GSM/ GPRS m odules em bedded for a t ot al wireless solut ion for dat a and voice

1. 1. BATTERY
 Main Bat t ery
The m obile com put er is powered by a rechargeable 3.7 V/ 3300m Ah Li- ion bat t ery
pack, and it t akes approxim at ely 4 hours t o charge it t o full from t he power adapt or
or approx. 8 hours using t he Snap- on Cable ( at 500m A) . However, t he charging t im e
m ay vary by working condit ion.
 Spare Bat t ery
A spare bat t ery is provided as an accessory. We recom m end keeping a fully charged
spare bat t ery at hand in order t o replace t he m ain bat t ery when it is nearly drained
out .

1.1.1. BATTERY STATUS INDICATIONS
The bat t ery pack is t he only power source for t he m obile com put er t o work. Therefore,
when t he m ain bat t ery level goes low, you need t o replace t he bat t ery pack wit h a
charged one or charge it as soon as possible. Most of all, you should backup im port ant
dat a on a regular basis.
By looking at t he bat t ery st at us icon, you can t ell t he bat t ery level rem aining in t he m ain
bat t ery – t he m ore t he whit e bars, t he m ore power in t he m ain bat t ery. Tap t he t op of

I f you want t o put away t he m obile com put er for a couple of days, you should be aware

1.2.2. CHECK STORAGE SPACE

capacit y and usage of t he onboard RAM.
 St orage m em ory refers t o t he m em ory allocat ed for file and dat a st orage.
 Program m em ory refers t o t he m em ory allocat ed for running program s.
Also, it provides inform at ion on t he Flash Disk folder or st orage card. The Flash Disk
folder is part of t he onboard 512 MB flash m em ory. Because t he flash m em ory is
non- volat ile, dat a or program s st ored in t his folder will not be erased aft er hardware
reset .

2.3.4. END A PROGRAM
I n general, t he syst em m anages m em ory aut om at ically, and t here is no need t o exit a
program in order t o open anot her or t o conserve m em ory. However, random access
m em ory ( RAM) m ay be used up when t oo m any program s are running sim ult aneously. As
a result , it will slow down syst em operat ion or cause program errors. I n t his case, you
should exit one or m ore of t he running program s t o release m em ory. I n order t o use
m em ory in a m ore efficient way, you are recom m ended t o exit a program once it is no
longer in use.

2. 4. USING ACTIVESYNC
Microsoft ’s syncing t ools enables users t o updat e or back up t he dat a on t heir handheld
devices t o deskt op com put ers.
Two syncing t ools are feat ured by Microsoft - Act iveSync and Windows Mobile Device
Cent er ( WMDC) . Which t ool t o use depends on which OS is running on your PC:

2.4.1. SYNCHRONIZATION WITH YOUR COMPUTER

2.5.1. SUSPENSION
The m obile com put er operat es cont inuously once it is powered on. To m inim ize power
consum pt ion, suspend t he m obile com put er if you are not act ively using it . When t he
m obile com put er ent ers suspension, t he syst em is in a power- saving st at us and can be
quickly awoken t o operat e as needed.
Enter Suspension
Press t he Power key for about 0.2 seconds t o ent er suspension.
Resume from Suspension
Press t he Power key for about 0.2 seconds t o awake t he m obile com put er.
Alt ernat ively, you m ay press t he Scan key.

2.5.2. HARDWARE RESET (COLD BOOT)
When t he m obile com put er runs slower t han norm al or when it st ops responding t o input ,
reset it wit h a hardware reset , also known as cold boot . This will rest art t he m obile
com put er and init ialize RAM. All dat a cached in RAM will be gone aft er hardware reset ,
while flash m em ory and RTC will be ret ained.

The m obile com put er is capable of Wi- Fi, a wireless net working t echnology m aking use of
an access point , also known as “ hot spot ” , t o connect t o a wireless local area net work.
To use Wi- Fi, t he m obile com put er has t o connect t o a hot spot . Som e hot spot s are open
for connect ion while ot hers request a key t o aut hent icat e access. I f t his is t he case, t he
aut hent icat ion key m ust be included in t he m obile com put er’s Wi- Fi set t ings.
Wi- Fi set t ings and power are cont rolled via Sum m it Client Ut ilit y ( SCU) . Windows Zero

9. 1. GPS RECEIVER
The 9200 Mobile Com put er is equipped wit h a GPS ant enna for obt aining locat ion and
t im e inform at ion from t he Global Posit ioning Syst em ( GPS) . Since t he m obile com put er
does not com e wit h any preinst alled navigat ion soft ware, you m ay need t o purchase
t hird- part y navigat ion soft ware separat ely.
The GPS receiver host ed on t he m obile com put er uses COM 7 t o out put NMEA m essages,
as long as t he COM port is opened. I n your applicat ion, open t he COM port wit h t he
correct configurat ion.

Mobile Ghost is a syst em cloning t ool t hat copies user dat a and regist ry set t ings on your
m obile com put er in t he form of a backup im age. You m ay use t he creat ed backup im ages
for full rest orat ion of regist ry set t ings and user files. Through backup im age creat ion,
syst em configurat ion and applicat ion set t ings can be reserved at a st at e when t he syst em
is st able. This is especially helpful when t he syst em encount ers unexpect ed crash down
or hardware/ soft ware error. I n addit ion, you m ay use t his t ool t o copy syst em set t ings
and user files on a cert ain m obile com put er and writ e t hem t o a set of ot her m obile
com put ers so all resem ble t he sam e user environm ent .
To open t he Mobile Ghost , t ap St a r t Scr e e n | Ciphe r La b Ut ilit ie s | M obile Ghost . Two
screen opt ions show for creat ing a backup im age, or rest oring a previously creat ed one.
