NOTE: The doorbell extender and doorbell come synced from the factory. The range of the wireless doorbell can vary with location, temperature, and battery condition. This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules and RSS-210 of Industry Canada. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. WARNING: To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH never allow small children near batteries. If battery is swallowed, immediately notify a doctor. The user is cautioned that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for regulatory compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. WARNING: Risk of fire. Do not plug the doorbell into a power inverter. Warranty 3-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY WHAT IS COVERED This product is guaranteed to be free of factory defective parts and workmanship for a period of 3 years from date of purchase. Purchase receipt is required for all warranty claims. WHAT IS NOT COVERED This warranty does not include expendable items (such as light bulbs, batteries, etc.), repair service, adjustment and calibration due to misuse, abuse or negligence. Unauthorized service or modification of the product or of any furnished component will void this warranty in its entirety. This warranty does not include reimbursement for inconvenience, installation, setup time, loss of use, unauthorized service, or return shipping charges. Pre-Installation PLANNING INSTALLATION Before installing the wireless doorbell extender kit, ensure that all parts are present. Compare parts with the Hardware Included and Package Contents sections. If any part is missing or damaged, do not attempt to assemble, install, or operate this wireless doorbell extender kit. Pre-Installation (continued) PACKAGE CONTENTS Part Description Quantity Doorbell Doorbell extender Installation 1 Installing the doorbell Ƒ Plug in the doorbell (A) at the desired location. Installing the batteries into the doorbell extender Ƒ Open the doorbell extender (B) by pressing on the cover with your thumb and sliding the cover off. Install four alkaline “AAA” batteries (not included) into the doorbell extender (B). Ensure the batteries are oriented properly. Ƒ Installation (continued) the doorbell extender 3 Testing and doorbell range Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ NOTE: Do not permanently mount the doorbell extender until the doorbell and doorbell extender are working properly. Test the range by temporarily positioning the doorbell extender (B) next to the existing doorbell. Press the “TEST” button inside the doorbell extender (B). Verify the red LED on the doorbell extender (B) flashes momentarily and the doorbell (A) sounds. If the doorbell does not sound, move the doorbell closer to the doorbell extender and test again. the doorbell extender 4 Testing function Ƒ To test the function, keep the doorbell extender (B) next to the existing doorbell and activate the existing doorbell. If the doorbell (A) sounds, the system is working correctly. adjustments to the 5 Making doorbell extender Ƒ Ƒ If the doorbell does not sound, try one or more of the following steps: Ƒ Turn the microphone sensitivity knob (1) inside the doorbell extender (B) clockwise to increase microphone sensitivity. Ƒ Move the doorbell extender (B) to different positions around the existing doorbell. Ƒ Remove the microphone (2) from the doorbell extender (B) by gently prying the microphone (2) out of the doorbell extender (B) and routing the wires through the small slot (3) in the doorbell extender (B). Attach the microphone (2) to the existing doorbell using double-sided tape (CC). Once the doorbell (A) and doorbell extender (B) are working correctly, reduce the microphone sensitivity (1) to the least sensitive position that allows for reliable activation to minimize false activation from other household noises. NOTE: Do not mount the microphone (2) to doorbell bars and make sure the small hole in the microphone (2) is not covered with double-sided tape (DD). Installation (continued) 6 Mounting the doorbell extender Use either the screws (BB) or double-sided tape (DD) to mount the doorbell extender (B). Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ BB To mount with screws (AA), temporarily remove the batteries and place the doorbell extender (B) against the mounting surface and mark the two screw holes. Drill two 7/32 in. pilot holes and insert wall anchors (CC). Align the holes in the doorbell extender (B) with the wall anchors (CC) and insert two screws (BB). Tighten securely and replace the batteries and cover. When attaching the doorbell extender (B) with double-sided tape (DD), remove the paper from both sides of the double-sided tape (DD) and apply to a clean surface. Install the cover. DD Operation 1 Adjusting the doorbell volume The doorbell (A) has an adjustable volume control located on the side. Rotate the thumbwheel up or down to adjust the volume. 2 Setting the doorbell extender The wireless doorbell extender (B) has two options for tune selection: Play the selected “FRONT” door musical tune or play the “REAR” door designated tune (Ding). Ƒ Ƒ Remove jumper to set as the “FRONT” door Remove the single jumper inside the doorbell extender (B) to play the selected musical tune. Add the single jumper inside the doorbell extender (B) to play only the Ding tune. Add jumper to set as the “REAR” door Operation (continued) the doorbell extender 3 Selecting tune NOTE: All doorbells are designed to play only two different tunes no matter how many push buttons are used. The doorbell (A) has different selectable tunes. If the doorbell extender (B) is set to the “REAR” tune it will only play the Ding (one note) tune. If the doorbell extender (B) is set to the “FRONT” tune it will play either the Ding-Dong (two note) tune or Westminster (eight note) tune. Ƒ Press and release the “TUNE” button on the doorbell (A) until the desired tune is heard. NOTE: All doorbell models are designed to work with up to 10 wireless push buttons (sold separately). 4 Adding wireless push buttons See the owner’s manual of the push button accessory for instructions to sync with this doorbell. NOTE: Wireless push buttons can be added to this doorbell. The push buttons are sold separately. 5 Selecting a push button tune NOTE: All doorbells are designed to play only two different tunes no matter how many push buttons are used. The doorbell (A) has different selectable tunes for push buttons (sold separately). The push button set as the “REAR” push button will only play Ding (one note tune). The push button set as the “FRONT” push button will play either the Ding-Dong (two note tune) or Westminster (eight note tune) tune. Ƒ Press and release the “TUNE” button on the doorbell (A) until the desired tune is heard. NOTE: All doorbell models are designed to work with up to 10 wireless push buttons (sold separately). Troubleshooting Problem Possible Cause Solution The doorbell does not sound. Ƒ The batteries are not installed correctly. Ƒ Make sure the batteries are installed according to the diagram inside the doorbell extender. Ƒ The batteries are dead. Ƒ Check the charge of the doorbell extender batteries and replace if necessary. Ƒ The doorbell is not receiving power. Ƒ Make sure the plug-in doorbell has power. Ƒ The doorbell extender and doorbell are not synced. Ƒ Sync the doorbell extender and doorbell: Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ Remove the doorbell extender cover. Press and hold the button on the doorbell until the doorbell sounds “Beep-Beep”. Press the button on the inside of the doorbell extender within 30 seconds. The doorbell will sound a “Beep-Beep” tone to indicate the doorbell extender is synced. Press the button inside the doorbell extender again to activate the doorbell and ensure the doorbell extender and doorbell are synced. Troubleshooting (continued) Problem Possible Cause Solution The batteries seem okay, but the doorbell does not work after installation. Ƒ The doorbell or doorbell extender is mounted on metal or near metal studs. Ƒ Metal reduces transmission range. Use 1/4 in. to 1/2 in. (6 to 13 mm) wood shims to move the doorbell or doorbell extender away from the metal surface. Ƒ The doorbell is mounted near a concrete floor or wall. Ƒ Concrete may reduce range. Move the doorbell away from the concrete surface. Ƒ The doorbell and doorbell extender are installed too far apart. Ƒ Locate the doorbell closer to the doorbell extender. Ƒ The doorbell is receiving interference from another wireless device. Ƒ Reset the doorbell extender and doorbell: The doorbell sounds when not intended (false triggers). Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ Remove the doorbell extender cover. Remove doorbell extender battery. Wait 30 seconds. Press and hold the button inside the doorbell extender for 10 to 15 seconds within 60 seconds after installing battery into the doorbell extender. Ƒ Press and hold the button on the doorbell until the doorbell sounds a “Beep-Beep-Beep-Beep”. Re-sync the doorbell extender and doorbell: Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ Ƒ Doorbell extender is detecting loud, continuous noise levels. Ƒ Press and hold the button on the doorbell until the doorbell sounds “Beep-Beep”. Press the button on the inside of the doorbell extender within 30 seconds. The doorbell will sound a “Beep-Beep” tone to indicate the doorbell extender is synced. Press the button inside the doorbell extender again to activate the doorbell and ensure the doorbell extender and doorbell are synced. Turn the microphone sensitivity dial counterclockwise to reduce sensitivity or attach the doorbell extender microphone directly to the existing doorbell case near the ringing part (but not on it).
