Please Read Before InstallingRF Designer-Style KeypadsHRD-5KP, -5RL, -10KP, -10RL120/127VAC, 50/60Hz Installation InstructionsOverviewThe HRD-5KP, -5RL and HRD-10KP, -10RL keypadsare for use with HomeWorks systems. The keypadbuttons are programmed with a personal computerusing the HomeWorks Utility. Up to 32 keypads, each with a unique address, can beassigned to each HomeWorks RF Processor. HRD-5KPHRD-10KP HRD-10RLHRD-5RLImportant NotesCodes: Install in accordance with all local and nationalelectrical codes.Environment: Ambient operating temperature: 0-40°C, 32-104°F, 0-90% humidity, non-condensing.Indoor use only.Wallplates: Lutron Claro®and Satin ColorsTM wallplatesare recommended for best color match and clean aes-thetic appearance. Do not paint controls or wallplates.Cleaning: Clean with a soft damp cloth only. Do not useany chemical or abrasive cleaners.Wallboxes: Lutron recommends using 3.5" (89mm) deepwallboxes for easier installation. RF Device Placement: RF Keypads must be locatedwithin 30 feet (9m) of an RF Signal Repeater or an RFProcessor. RF Keypads will not function until they are addressedand programmed. Prepare wires. When making wire connections, fol-low the recommended strip lengths and combina-tions for the supplied wire connectors. Note: Wireconnectors provided are suitable for copper wireonly. Small: Strip insulation .375" (10mm) for14AWG (2.5mm2). Strip insulation .5" (13mm) for 16AWG(2.5mm2).Use to join one 14AWG supply wirewith one 16 or 18AWG (1.0mm2) con-trol wire.3. Wiring: See Wiring Diagram (page 3)4. Push all wires back into the wallbox and loosely fastenthe control to the wallbox using the screws provided.Do not pinch the wires.5. Attach Lutron Claro®or Satin ColorsTM wallplateadapter and wallplate. a. Loosely install keypad mounting screws.b. Tighten adapter mounting screws snug.c. Tighten keypad mounting screws until keypadis flush to wall (do not over-tighten).d. Snap wallplate onto adapter.6.
