4DescriptionMitel® 5505 Guest IP Phones are supported by the 3300 IntegratedCommunications Platform (ICP) with MCD Release 5.0 or later software.The Mitel 5505 Guest IP Phone and 5505 Cordless Handset provide a SIP-based IP guest room phone. The 5505 Guest IP Phone supports up to four5505 Cordless Handsets. You can order additional 5505 Cordless handsetsand chargers.The 5505 Cordless Handset has an indoor signal range of up to 100 meters(300 feet) from the 5505 Guest IP Phone. The display is protected by a plastic film. Remove the protective film.2. Insert the batteries as designated on the back of the handset. The polarityis indicated on the battery compartment.3. Charge the battery. It is recommend that you charge the battery fully beforefirst use. It takes approximately 8 hours to fully charge the battery. 2. Then remove the handset for use. 3. Do not return the handset to the charger until the batteries are fullydischarged. Connecting and Registering the 5505 Guest IP Phone The 5505 Guest IP Phone comes pre-paired with one 5505 Cordless Handset.Follow the instructions below to connect and register the first 5505 CordlessHandset and 5505 Guest IP Phone base station.Turn on the Handset and Prepare the Base Station1. Turn on the 5505 Cordless Handset using the power on button.2. Set up the 5505 Guest IP Phone at a central location on a flat, non-slipsurface. Turn the 5505 base station so that the front faces away from you. Connect the 5505 Base Station(See Figure )Thread the LAN cable plug through the slot on the back of the installed baseunit and plug it into the LAN port on the back of the phone.Plug the other end of the LAN cable into one of the following:• the phone port of an Ethernet power adapter. Then, connect theEthernet adapter to the LAN using a separate LAN cable, and plug thepower adapter into an AC power outlet.or• a LAN-powered jack.The base unit initializes and establishes a connection with the 5505Cordless Handset. The 5505 Cordless Handset will stop flashing "Base"indicating the successful DECT connection.A
5Register the 5505 Cordless Handset1. Place the handset with the display facing up in the 5505 Guest IP Phonebase.The Line In Use indicator on the base starts flashing. The display on thehandset displays “No DN PROGRMED”.2. Enter the DN and registration PIN as DN#PIN#.3. Press the Speaker key 4. Do not remove the handset from the 5505 Guest IP Phone duringregistration.5. After successful registration, the screen displays the Room Name/Number. Note the charge status of the battery. (See “Charging the 5505Cordless Handset” on page 4.)See “Pairing 5505 Cordless Handsets” on page 5 to continue pairing additionalhandsets.Pairing 5505 Cordless HandsetsThe 5505 Guest IP Phone supports up to four 5505 Cordless Handsets. Onehandset is automatically pre-paired with the base station. You can pair theremaining handsets by following the instructions below. NOTE:Only one handset can be paired at a time. The pairing must becompleted before pairing the next handset. 1. On the 5505 Base Station, press down both the Volume Up/Downindicators on the Volume key. 2. Then release the Volume Down (–) portion.3. While the Volume Up key is kept pressed, enter 7247 (PAIR) onthe Base Station to start the pairing process. The Mute, Messageand Line in Use keys start flashing to indicate an empty device slot isavailable for pairing.4. On the handset, press MENU -> Settings -> OK -> Handset -> OK ->Register HS?.5. Enter the base station pairing PIN (default 0000) and press OK. Registering ... appears on the handset.NOTE:Mitel recommends using a Wireless PIN.6. After successful pairing, an IDLE screen is displayed on the handset andthe indicators stop flashing on the base station.7. To verify successful pairing, press the handset locator button (in thehandset pocket on the base station). This will cause all paired handsets tostart ringing.8. Continue to pair the next handset, if necessary. Deleting/Replacing 5505 Cordless HandsetsWhen all four handsets are paired and one/some/all of them are lost, new 5505Cordless Handsets will need to be paired.1. On the 5505 Base Station, press down both the Volume Up/Downindicators on the Volume key. 2. Then release the Volume Down (–) portion. 3. While the Volume Up key is pressed, enter 867247 (UNPAIR) tostart the un-pairing process.This procedure will un-pair all the paired handsets. After successful un-pairing,Register HS will start flashing on the display of the handset. All user data,including speed dials, room number, and the phone book entries will be deletedon the handsets. You can now pair the new handsets following the procedure“Pairing 5505 Cordless Handsets” on page 5.Replacing the Designation Card (See Figure )The 5505 Guest IP Phone is shipped with the plastic lens and a fixeddesignation card installed. You can remove the generic designation card andreplace it with a customer-specific one.To remove and re-install the lens:Slightly bend the lens on both the bottom and top. The lens is held in placeby several tabs.The lens will bend across its length and the tabs will pull outand pop free from the cutout slots.Lift off and remove the generic designation card and replace it with thecustom-supplied designation card.Slightly bend the lens along its length, just enough to allow the edge tabs toengage into the slots. The lens will snap into place.Configuration RequirementsYou must complete the following configuration before the 5505 Guest IP Phoneand 5505 Cordless Handset are fully functional:1. License, program, and register the Mitel 5505 Guest IP Phone with thecommunications platform. Refer to your communications platformdocumentation for instructions.NOTE:Communication platform documentation, the 5505 Guest IP PhoneAdministration Guide, phone user guides, and phone installation guides areavailable on the Mitel Customer Documentation web site at http://edocs.mitel.com.Connecting the Charging Cradle (Optional) The 5505 Guest IP Phone can have up to three additional 5505 CordlessHandsets with chargers. The additional 5505 Cordless Handsets and cradlepower adapters must be ordered separately.1. Slide the flat plug from the power supply into the charging cradle until youhear a click.2. Plug the power adapter into the plug socket.1. If you need to disconnect the plug from the charging cradle, press theRelease button.2. Disconnect the plug.B
