BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Shelf life:
5 years
Operating time: 96 hours minimum (on Standby)
8 hours operating time (once triggered)
The batteries will require replacing after five years, even if the unit has not been used. The
expiry date is shown on a label on the base of the SART. If the SART has been activated
other than for testing, then the battery should also be replaced immediately. The SART
SA50 is shipped with non-hazardous batteries.
The SART should be tested annually as a minimum. Please refer to the Instruction Sheet
for further information.
The SART should be taken to an authorized Simrad dealer (for details please consult the
enclosed Warranty Card).
WARNING: Do not attempt to open the SART as this may degrade the waterproof
rating of the device.

CARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS
The number of SART’s required depends on the size and type of ship. IMO Carriage
Requirements stipulate that all SOLAS vessels over 300 tons must carry a minimum of one
SART, whilst passenger ships must carry a minimum of two. More recent regulations
require RO–RO ferries to carry a minimum of one SART for every four life rafts.

LIFE RAFT ACTIVATION (manufacturers only)
The SA50 SART may be automatically activated on inflation of the life raft. The SART
should be firmly attached to the top of the life raft and the activation pin to a lower part of
the raft so that when the life raft inflates, the pin is pulled out. ENSURE THE PIN IS IN THE
UNLOCKED POSITION BEFORE STOWING THE SART IN THE LIFERAFT.
