installation guide XMFM1 Important: This manual contains important safety and operating information. Please read, understand, and follow the instructions in this manual. Failure to do so could result in personal injury, death, and/or damage to your XM Radio, and/or to your vehicle or property Audiovox XM FM Direct Setup Your Audiovox FM Direct Adapter contains the following components: XM FM Direct Adapter To Satellite Radio Vehicle Dock Vehicle Antenna FM Direct Adapter XM Antenna Antenna In Vehicle Radio Interconnecting the FM Direct Adapter Caution: Installation of this device may require disassembly of the vehicle’s instrument panel and/or interconnect to the vehicle’s antenna system. Professional installation is recommended. XMFM1 Setup XMFM1 Setup 1. Connect the cable marked “TO XM RADIO” on the FM Direct adapter into the XM antenna in jack on the XM vehicle dock or on the side of the receiver. 2. Connect the cable marked “TO FM ANT” on the FM Direct adapter to the vehicle FM antenna cable. (Optional antenna adapter may be required, Refer to NOTE.) 3. Connect the vehicle FM antenna cable lead to the cable marked “TO FM RADIO” on the FM Direct adapter. (Optional antenna adapter may be required, Refer to NOTE.) 4. Connect the XM antenna into the jack marked “XM ANT” located on the side of the FM Direct Adapter. 5. Your FM Direct Adapter receives power from your XM radio receiver. No additional external power source is required. NOTE: 1. The FM antenna connector used to connect the FM Direct Adapter to the vehicle audio/stereo system may require an additional antenna adapter depending on the type of vehicle. Professional installation is recommended. 2. The Audiovox FM Direct Adapter may be tie-wrapped to existing wire harnesses or other under-dash structures. The adapter should be constrained in some way to help prevent it from causing rattles and other noise, or chafing to vehicle wiring. Interconnection Procedure Interconnection Procedure Turning on the Audiovox FM Direct Adapter With the ignition on, the FM Direct Adapter is always on in a standby condition. When you turn on your XM radio receiver, the adapter will automatically switch the vehicle FM signal input from your FM antenna to the XM Audio signal. Changing the Transmitting Frequency The FM Direct Adapter allows you to input the signal from your XM Radio receiver directly into your vehicle’s radio. You can select the frequency on which the broadcast is sent from your XM radio receiver controls. (See your XM radio user manual for more information.) Set your vehicle’s radio to the same FM frequency as the one selected for your XM radio receiver. XMFM1 Operation XMFM1 Operation 12 MONTH LIMITED WARRANTY AUDIOVOX ELECTRONICS CORPORATION (the Company) warrants to the original retail purchaser of this product that should this product or any part thereof, under normal use and conditions, be proven defective in material or workmanship within 12 months from the date of original purchase, such defect(s) will be repaired or replaced with new or reconditioned product (at the Company's option) without charge for parts and repair labor. To obtain repair or replacement within the terms of this Warranty, the product is to be delivered with proof of warranty coverage (e.g. dated bill of sale), specification of defect(s), transportation prepaid, to an approved warranty station or the Company at the address shown below. This Warranty does not extend to the elimination of externally generated static or noise, to costs incurred for installation, removal or reinstallation of the product, damage to speakers, accessories, or vehicle and home electrical systems, malfunction of satellite transmissions, repeater signal or receiver unit. This Warranty does not apply to any product or part thereof which, in the opinion of the Company, has suffered or been damaged through alteration, improper installation, mishandling, misuse, neglect, accident, or by removal or defacement of the factory serial number/bar code label(s). THE EXTENT OF THE COMPANY'S LIABILITY UNDER THIS WARRANTY IS LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT PROVIDED ABOVE AND, IN NO EVENT, SHALL THE COMPANY'S LIABILITY EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE PAID BY PURCHASER FOR THE PRODUCT. This Warranty is in lieu of all other express warranties or liabilities. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS WRITTEN WARRANTY. ANY ACTION FOR BREACH OF ANY WARRANTY HEREUNDER INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY MUST BE BROUGHT WITHIN A PERIOD OF 48 MONTHS FROM DATE OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE. IN NO CASE SHALL THE COMPANY BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES FOR BREACH OF THIS OR ANY OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WHATSOEVER. No person or representative is authorized to assume for the Company any liability other than expressed herein in connection with the sale of this product. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damage so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.
