Access Points bridge RF-only INSTEON devices with power line-
only INSTEON devices and couple the phases of your home.
Installing Two Access Points
SStteepp 11..Plug the ffiirrssttAccess Point into a convenient wall outlet.
For best performance when using a remote control place an Access Point in the
same room.
SStteepp 22..On the ffiirrsstt Access Point tap the SET button four times rapidly.
The Access Point’s LED will turn bright and remain steadily on.
SStteepp 33..Plug the sseeccoonnddAccess Point into another outlet.
SStteepp 44..Look at the sseeccoonnddAccess Point’s Status LED:
• If it is bbrriigghhtt aanndd sstteeaaddiillyy oonn, go to step 5.
• If it is bblliinnkkiinngg oorr ddiimm, repeat step 3, trying another outlet.
NNoottee:: YYoouu mmaayy nneeeedd ttoo ttrryy sseevveerraall oouuttlleettss..If you are unable to locate an outlet please call 866-243-8018
for assistance. If you have tried 5 outlets, go back and move the first Access Point to another outlet.
SStteepp 55..Tap and release the SET button on the ffiirrssttAccess Point.
The Status LED on both Access Points will go dim and remain steadily on.
Congratulations! You have made your home INSTEON ready.
HINTS
• Do not use an outlet controlled by
a switch.
• Do not place near large metal
objects.
Troubleshooting Tips
•The Status LED on the Access Point is not turning on at all.
Make sure you are not on a switched outlet.
•Do not plug into a power strip or UPS (uninterruptible power supply).
•Add additional Access Points around the home to eliminate RF dead spots.
