It must be used in normal conditions as described in thismanual.DASSAULT A.T. cannot be held responsible for :-  Damages due to using or servicing Artema other than in the conditionsdescribed in this guide.-  Damages or Failures due to external causes.2.2 Lithium batteriesIn addition to the battery pack of the handset, Artema uses Lithium batteries in order tobackup internal data. The Lithium batteries in normal usage conditions have 6 years lifeexpectancy. These batteries should only be replaced by an approved servicing center.CAUTIONDanger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replacedReplace only with the same or equivalent typerecommended by the manufacturer.Dispose of used batteries accordingto the manufacturer’s instructions.2.3 EnvironmentIn order to use Artema in optimal conditions-  Place the base on a clear, flat, leveled surface, close to the mains.-  A phone plug is required for Artema portable.-  Place the terminal away from excessive heat sources, vibrations, dust, water andstrong radio sources.Environmental conditionsMinimum MaximumOperating temperature +5 °C +40°CStorage temperature -25 °C +55 °CRelative humidity 50% 90%

AND MAY NOT BE USED, COPIED, DISCLOSED OR DIVULGED, IN WHOLEOR IN PART, FOR ANY PURPOSE BY ANY PERSON WITHOUT THE WRITTENAPPROVAL OF DASSAULT A.T.DASSAULT A.T.2.4  Battery pack installation-  It is important to switch off the terminal before changing the battery pack.-  Position the battery pack in the back of the handset.-  Press on the upper part of the battery until a "click" noise is heard.-  The terminal is ready for the charging cycle (see installation and connection).2.5  Optional battery pack installation in base unit (portable version only)If you have a second battery pack you can charge it in the base unit ref.P4432-150(radio base for "portable" version).-  Extract the cache, and replace it by the battery pack.-  Press on the battery until you hear a "click".-  The battery will start the charging cycle.

AND MAY NOT BE USED, COPIED, DISCLOSED OR DIVULGED, IN WHOLEOR IN PART, FOR ANY PURPOSE BY ANY PERSON WITHOUT THE WRITTENAPPROVAL OF DASSAULT A.T.DASSAULT A.T.2.6  Installing the paper rollTo obtain the highest printing quality, and to ensure maximum printer life span, only userecommended paper rolls 2 1/4 x 7/8 x 80 Ft.-  Open the printer casing by pressing simultaneously on both sides, and by pullingupwards.-  Place the roll of paper in the casing, paper output towards the pin pad. Leave a fewinches of paper outside.-  Close the printer casing. You will hear a "click" sound to confirm the casing isclosed.

AND MAY NOT BE USED, COPIED, DISCLOSED OR DIVULGED, IN WHOLEOR IN PART, FOR ANY PURPOSE BY ANY PERSON WITHOUT THE WRITTENAPPROVAL OF DASSAULT A.T.DASSAULT A.T.-  The printer will work only if the casing is closed and battery is charged.-  Switch on the terminal, by pressing the "power on" key, and draw an inch of paper tocheck the roll is correctly placed in its casing.-  Cut the exceeding paper.2.7  Connecting to the mains supply-  Connect the power supply line to the mains supply (115V), and check that the greenindicator on the base in on.The mains outlet needs to be close to the terminal, within reach, in order toquickly disconnect the terminal if necessary.2.8  Connecting to the phone networks (portable version only)-  Connect to T1 the phone line at the rear of the base unitBase unit connections :Phone handsetPhone line

AND MAY NOT BE USED, COPIED, DISCLOSED OR DIVULGED, IN WHOLEOR IN PART, FOR ANY PURPOSE BY ANY PERSON WITHOUT THE WRITTENAPPROVAL OF DASSAULT A.T.DASSAULT A.T.2.9  Radio link setup (portable version only)-  The radio link setup is set by a subscription procedure between the handheld unitand the base (see radio linking document).-  This procedure is required for the handset to work with the base.2.10  Connecting peripherals (portable version only)Connectors RS232.1 and RS 232.2 allow you to connect :-  Cash registering machine-  Other RS232 peripherals such as external Pin pads, Check readers2.11 Charging ARTEMABefore using Artema for the first time, leave the handset to charge for 8 hours inorder to fully charge the battery pack. This should allow you to use Artema ingood conditions.-  After a charging cycle, an icon indicates the battery charge level-  In order for you to keep getting a large number of transactions without base-  We recommend you to change battery packs every two years.-  Only use original battery packs
