NT 332 588 Rev.1.6 ARTEMA Portable & Mobile Installation guide 2 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS 2.1 Warning Artema is an electrical device. It must be used in normal conditions as described in this manual. DASSAULT A.T. cannot be held responsible for : Damages due to using or servicing Artema other than in the conditions described in this guide. Damages or Failures due to external causes. 2.2 Lithium batteries In addition to the battery pack of the handset, Artema uses Lithium batteries in order to backup internal data. The Lithium batteries in normal usage conditions have 6 years life expectancy. These batteries should only be replaced by an approved servicing center. CAUTION Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions. 2.3 In Environment order to use Artema in optimal conditions Place the base on a clear, flat, leveled surface, close to the mains. A phone plug is required for Artema portable. Place the terminal away from excessive heat sources, vibrations, dust, water and strong radio sources. Position the battery pack in the back of the handset. Press on the upper part of the battery until a "click" noise is heard. The terminal is ready for the charging cycle (see installation and connection). Optional battery pack installation in base unit (portable version only) If you have a second battery pack you can charge it in the base unit ref.P4432-150 (radio base for "portable" version). - Extract the cache, and replace it by the battery pack. - Press on the battery until you hear a "click". - The battery will start the charging cycle. NT 332 588 Rev.1.6 ARTEMA Portable & Mobile Installation guide 2.6 Installing the paper roll To obtain the highest printing quality, and to ensure maximum printer life span, only use recommended paper rolls 2 1/4 x 7/8 x 80 Ft. Open the printer casing by pressing simultaneously on both sides, and by pulling upwards. Place the roll of paper in the casing, paper output towards the pin pad. Leave a few inches of paper outside. Switch on the terminal, by pressing the "power on" key, and draw an inch of paper to check the roll is correctly placed in its casing. Cut the exceeding paper. Connecting to the mains supply Connect the power supply line to the mains supply (115V), and check that the green indicator on the base in on. NT 332 588 Rev.1.6 2.9 ARTEMA Portable & Mobile Installation guide Radio link setup (portable version only) The radio link setup is set by a subscription procedure between the handheld unit and the base (see radio linking document). This procedure is required for the handset to work with the base. 2.10 Connecting peripherals (portable version only) Connectors RS232.1 and RS 232.2 allow you to connect : - Cash registering machine - Other RS232 peripherals such as external Pin pads, Check readers 2.11 Charging ARTEMA Before using Artema for the first time, leave the handset to charge for 8 hours in order to fully charge the battery pack. This should allow you to use Artema in good conditions. After a charging cycle, an icon indicates the battery charge level In order for you to keep getting a large number of transactions without base We recommend you to change battery packs every two years. NT 332 588 Rev.1.6 ARTEMA Portable & Mobile Installation guide 3 TROUBLE SHOOTING & SPARE SPARTS Technical maintenance operations should only be done by approved servicing centers … however some problems can easily be solved : Artema stops during display or printing : Recharge the battery by placing the handset on the base for several hours Check the battery is correctly set in the handset Check the printer casing is correctly closed The handset is not communicating with the base (portable version only) : Check the base is on (green indicator on) If the green indicator is off, check the power line is correctly plugged. Check the radio link between the base and the handset. Phone calls to processing centers fail (portable version only) : Check that the phone line is correctly connected Check that your phone installation works Check that the telecommunication parameters match your phone installation.
