Interference
Radio reception in a movin g environmen t is ver y different from reception in a
stationary environment (home). It is very important to understan d th e difference .
AM reception will deteriorate when passing under a bridge or whe n passing
under hig h voltage lines . Although AM is subject to environmental noise, it has
the ability to receive at grea t distance . This is because broadcastin g signals
follow th e curvature of the eart h an d ar e re flected back by th e uppe r atmosphere.
Check 12V+ on accessory wire to radio (RED wire)
Check Ground.

Verify Volume, Fader/Balance , Mute controls ar e se t

Try the rese t button .
Verify proper speake r selection .
Ignition
The most common source of noise in reception is th e ignition system. This is a
result of th e radio being placed close to the ignition system (engine) . This typ e of
noise can be easily detected because it will vary in intensit y of pitch with th e
speed of the engine .
Usually, th e ignition noise ca n be suppresse d considerabl y by using a radio
suppression type hig h voltage ignition wire and suppresso r resistor in the
ignition system. (Most vessels employ this wire and resisto r bu t it ma y be
necessary to check them for correct operation. ) Another metho d of suppressio n
is th e use of additiona l noise suppressors. These ca n be obtaine d fro m most
CB/ A radio or electronic supply shops .
Check fuse.
