Infant Tag User Guide CLEANING Secure Strip AR3SS01-000 (Roll of 1000 pre-cut adhesives) TAGS • Hold Infant Tag with top uppermost In order to disinfect without causing damage to the tags, use one of the following cleaning methods: • Remove Secure Strip from tape by slightly bending tape, allowing strip to separate METHOD 1 • Center strip on bottom of tag and press firmly into place INFANT TAG OVERVIEW Infant Tag Infant Tag w/ Tag Pulse STEP 1: APPLY SECURE STRIP* AR4TA02-00P AR4TA01-00P As an essential part of the HALO Infant Protection System™, the Infant Tag helps to protect and identify infants in your care. Each tag is labeled with a unique serial number and expiry date for easy, accurate identification. • Follow instructions for type of strap used STEP 2: BANDING Velcro Strap (Pack of 10) AR3WS01-VLC • Insert velcro tab end of strap through one arm of tag. Guide it from top to bottom of tag, with tan color next to the infant’s skin The bottom of the tag is curved to ensure a snug and comfortable fit. • Pull taut Tag pulse technology allows tags to emit periodic signals to the HALO system that allow facilities to accurately track and locate infants. Infant Tags are available with and without tag pulse technology. • Place tag on infant’s calf or upper arm Top • Peel backing from Secure Strip • Guide tab end through tag’s other arm AR3WS01-SML AR3WS01-MED AR2WSD1-SOC • Peel backing from Secure Strip Curved Bottom Sensing Surface APPLICATION Proper banding will limit the incidence of nuisance alarms. A properly fastened strap should keep the bottom of the Infant Tag against the infant’s skin, but it should neither restrict the infant’s circulation nor cause discomfort or chafing. eXI recommends using either the Velcro Strap or the Stockinette to attach the Infant Tag. However, other options are available. For more information, contact your dealer or eXI directly. • Allow tag to dry for 30 seconds METHOD 2 • Use cold sterilization in Cidex or Totacide Note: Do not immerse tags for more than 30 minutes METHOD 3 • Use gas diffusion sterilization methods Note: Battery leakage may occur if tags are exposed to heat in excess of 57°C (135°F) STRAPS Arm Arm • Wipe each tag individually (using a new alcohol wipe for each) Important: Tags are incompatible with disinfectants containing Glycol Ether. • Fold tab back over arm to adhere velcro to strap Stockinette (S - 1.25”) Stockinette (M - 1.625”) Stockinette (L - 2”) (Bag of 50) • Scrub each tag with germicidal solution of approximately 60 seconds Note: Phenolic or iodine base solution is preferred • Place tag on infant’s calf or upper arm • Center stockinette over tag Coban (3M product available from medical supply companies) • Peel backing from Secure Strip The Velcro Strap and the Stockinette are disposable and intended for single use, which eliminates the need for sterilization and disinfection. If need be, the Velcro Strap will withstand hand washing. STORAGE Tag Rack AGETR02-000 Store tags in eXI’s Tag Rack at room temperature. The Tag Rack holds up to 42 curved Infant Tags. Regularly rotate your tag inventory so that tags are used evenly. • Place tag on infant’s calf or upper arm ORDER INFORMATION • Wrap Coban around tag, covering the tag completely; ensure that you do not wrap the Coban too tightly To re-order tags, secure strips, or bands, contact your dealer or eXI directly.
