95Chapter 4TroubleshootingRecovery Solution Representation (Optional)What is a Recovery Area?Samsung computers have an additional partition to recovertcomputers or save backup les.(Only for models with the Samsung Recovery Solution.)This partition is called a Recovery Area and it includes a recoveryimage that comprises of the OS and application programs. You can either double-click the Samsung Recovery Solution iconton the desktop or pressF4 while booting the computer to enterthe Recovery Area. Then you can back up the present computerstate or recover the computer from backed up images. For deleting the Recovery Area, you need to use an additionaltRecovery Area Removal Tool. After deleting the recovery area, you can use the newly created partition for other uses, such asfor saving personal data. Be careful that once the recovery area isdeleted, the Samsung Recovery Solutions will not work anymore. The capacity representation of the hard disk drive(HDD)in Windows is dierent from the product specications. The capacity of the storage device (HDD) of the manufacturer istcalculated assuming that 1KB=1,000 Bytes. However, the operatingsystem (Windows) calculates the storage device capacity assumingthat 1KB=1,024 Bytes, and therefore the capacity representation of the HDD in Windows is smaller than the actual capacity. This is due to the dierence in capacity calculation and doesnot mean the installed HDD is dierent from the productspecications. The capacity representation in Windows may be smaller than thetactual capacity because some programs occupy a certain area of the HDD outside of Windows. For models with Samsung Recovery Solution, the HDD capacitytrepresentation in Windows may be smaller than the actualcapacity because Samsung Recovery Solution uses a hidden areaof about 5~20GB of the HDD to save the recovery image, andthat hidden area is not counted towards the total size available toWindows. The size of Samsung Recovery Solution varies by models becauseof the dierent size of applied programs.Computer Backup/Restoration

In this case, change theresolution to 1024x768 pixels.
99Chapter 4TroubleshootingQWhen I connect a projector, the taskbar at the bottom of the screen is not displayed on the projector.AThis occurs because a WXGA LCD supports a resolution of 1280×800 pixels but the resolution is not supported by theprojector. In this case, change the resolution to 1024x768pixels (recommended).QThe shortcut icons are not displayed on the screen evenif I press the shortcut key.AThe shortcut icons only appear when the Easy DisplayManager program is installed.QI have connected a monitor(or projector) to thecomputer, but the colors on the monitor are abnormallydisplayed.ACheck if the monitor and computer are properly connectedwith the signal cable and reconnect the cable if necessary.QI am trying to view the screen through a TV byconnecting it through the HDMI port, but the edge of the screen is not displayed.AIt is recommended using a notebook computer screen ormonitor for documents and Internet pages.Although HDMI is good for watching videos, the edges maybe cut or the text may be blurred on a HDMI TV.QI cannot congure the Image Sharpness in the NVIDIAControl Panel of <NVIDIA Graphics>.ATheNVIDIA Control Panel > Adjust desktop Color Settings> Image Sharpening item is set toNone and will not becongurable.
