Telephone calls aretransmitted between the base and the handset by radiowaves, so there is a possibility that your cordless phoneconversations could be intercepted by radio receivingequipment within range of the cordless handset. For thisreason, you should not think of cordless phone conversations as being as private as those on cordedphones.Electrical Power: The base unit of this cordless telephonemust be connected to a working electrical outlet. The electrical outlet should not be controlled by a wall switch.Calls cannot be made from the handset if the baseunit is unplugged or switched off, or if the electricalpower is interrupted.Potential TV Interference: Some cordless telephonesoperate at frequencies that may cause interference to TVsand VCRs. To minimize or prevent such interference, donot place the base unit of the cordless telephone near or ontop of a TV or VCR. If interference is experienced, movingthe cordless telephone farther away from the TV or VCRwill often reduce or eliminate the interference. Supported by the U.S.Food and Drug Administration, WTR had recommended tophysicians that:PACEMAKER PATIENTS• Should keep wireless phones at least six inches from thepacemaker• Should  NOT place wireless phones directly over thepacemaker, such as in a breast pocket, when it is turned ON• Should use the wireless phone at the ear opposite thepacemakerWTR’s evaluation did not identify any risk to bystanders withpacemakers from other persons using wireless phones. 4Especially About Telephone Answering SystemsTwo-Way Recording: This unit does not sound warningbeeps to let the other party know that the call is beingrecorded. To ensure that you are in compliance with anyfederal or state regulations regarding recording a telephonecall, you should start the recording process and then informthe other party that you are recording the call.FCC and ACTA InformationIf this equipment was approved for connection to thetelephone network prior to July 23, 2001, it complies withPart 68 of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)rules. If the equipment was approved after that date, itcomplies with the Part 68 rules and with TechnicalRequirements for Connection of Equipment to the TelephoneNetwork adopted by the Administrative Council for TerminalAttachments (ACTA). We are required to provide you withthe following information.1 Product identifier and REN informationThe label on the back or bottom of this equipmentcontains, among other things, an identifier indicatingproduct approval and the Ringer Equivalence Number(REN).  This information must be provided to your localtelephone company upon request. For equipmentapproved prior to July 23, 2001, the product identifier ispreceded by the phrase “FCC Reg No.” and the REN islisted separately. For equipment approved after that date,the product identifier is preceded by “US” and a colon (:),and the REN is encoded in the product identifier withouta decimal point as the sixth and seventh charactersfollowing the colon. For example, the product identifierUS:AAAEQ03T123XYZ would indicate an REN of 0.3.The REN is used to determine how many devices youmay connect to your telephone line and still have themring when you are called. In most, but not all areas, thesum of all RENs should be five (5.0) or less. 5requirements adopted by ACTA. A compliant telephonecord and modular plug is provided with this product. It isdesigned to be connected to a compatible modular jackthat is also compliant. An RJ11 jack should normally beused for connecting to a single line and an RJ14 jack fortwo lines. See Installation Instructions in the user’smanual. This equipment may not be used with CoinTelephone Lines or with Party Lines. If you have speciallywired alarm dialing equipment connected to yourtelephone line, ensure the connection of this equipmentdoes not disable your alarm equipment. If you havequestions about what will disable alarm equipment,consult your telephone company or qualified installer.3 Repair instructionsIf this equipment is malfunctioning, it must beunplugged from the modular jack until the problem hasbeen corrected. Repairs to this telephone equipmentcan only be made by the manufacturer or its authorizedagents. For repair procedures, follow the instructionsoutlined under the Limited Warranty.4 Rights of the telephone companyIf this equipment is causing harm to the telephonenetwork, the telephone company may temporarilydiscontinue your telephone service. The telephonecompany is required to notify you before interruptingservice. If advance notice is not practical, you will benotified as soon as possible. You will be given theopportunity to correct the problem and the telephonecompany is required to inform you of your right to filea complaint with the FCC. Your telephone companymay make changes in its facilities, equipment,operation, or procedures that could affect the properfunctioning of this product. The telephone company isrequired to notify you if such changes are planned.5 Hearing aid compatibility If this product is equipped with a corded or cordlesshandset, it is hearing aid compatible.6 Programming/testing of emergency numbersIf this product has memory dialing locations, you maychoose to store police, fire department and emergencymedical service telephone numbers in these locations. This limited warranty extends only to theCONSUMER for PRODUCTS purchased and used in theUnited States of America.2WHAT WILL AAT  DO IF THE PRODUCT IS NOT FREEFROM MATERIAL DEFECTS IN MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIPDURING THE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD (“MATERIALLYDEFECTIVE PRODUCT”)?During the limited warranty period, AAT’s authorizedservice representative will repair or replace, at AAT’soption, without charge, a MATERIALLY DEFECTIVEPRODUCT. 84WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THIS LIMITED WARRANTY?This limited warranty does not cover:a PRODUCT that has been subjected to misuse,accident, shipping or other physical damage, improperinstallation, abnormal operation or handling, neglect,inundation, fire, water, or other liquid intrusion; orb PRODUCT that has been damaged due to repair,alteration, or modification by anyone other than anauthorized service representative of AAT; orc PRODUCT to the extent that the problem experiencedis caused by signal conditions, network reliability orcable or antenna systems; ord PRODUCT to the extent that the problem is caused byuse with non-AAT accessories; ore PRODUCT whose warranty/quality stickers, productserial number plates or electronic serial numbers havebeen removed, altered or rendered illegible; orf PRODUCT purchased, used, serviced, or shipped forrepair from outside the United States, or used forcommercial or institutional purposes (including but notlimited to PRODUCTS used for rental purposes); org PRODUCT returned without valid proof of purchase(see 6 below); orhcharges for installation or setup, adjustment ofcustomer controls, and installation or repair of systemsoutside the unit.5HOW DO YOU GET WARRANTY SERVICE?To obtain warranty service in the United States of America,call 1 800 222–3111 for instructions regarding where toreturn the PRODUCT. Before calling for service, pleasecheck the user’s manual. A check of the PRODUCTcontrols and features may save YOU a service call.Except as provided by applicable law, YOU assume therisk of loss or damage during transit and transportation andare responsible for delivery or handling charges incurredin the transport of PRODUCT(S) to the service location.AAT will return repaired or replaced PRODUCT underthis limited warranty to YOU, transportation, delivery orhandling charges prepaid. AAT assumes no risk fordamage or loss of the PRODUCT in transit.If the PRODUCT failure is not covered by this limitedwarranty, or proof of purchase does not meet the terms ofthis limited warranty, AAT will notify YOU and willrequest that YOU authorize the cost of repair prior to anyfurther repair activity. 96WHAT MUST YOU RETURN WITH THE PRODUCT TO GETWARRANTY SERVICE?YOU must:areturn the entire original package and contentsincluding the PRODUCT to the AAT service locationalong with a description of the malfunction ordifficulty;binclude “valid proof of purchase” (sales receipt)identifying the PRODUCT purchased (PRODUCTmodel) and the date of purchase or receipt (keep acopy for your records); andcprovide your name, complete and correct mailingaddress, and telephone number.  7OTHER LIMITATIONSThis warranty is the complete and exclusive agreementbetween YOU and AAT. It supersedes all other written ororal communications related to this PRODUCT. AATprovides no other warranties for this PRODUCT. Thewarranty exclusively describes all of AAT’s responsibilitiesregarding the PRODUCT. There are no other expresswarranties. No one is authorized to make modifications tothis limited warranty and YOU should not rely on anysuch modification.  State Law Rights:  This warranty gives YOU specific legalrights, and YOU may also have other rights which varyfrom state to state.  Limitations:Implied warranties, including those of fitness for aparticular purpose and merchantability (anunwritten warranty that the PRODUCT is fit forordinary use) are limited to one year from date ofpurchase.
