Download Code to UBS Chapter 3: LMF Oper ationDownload Code to UBS■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■The process of downloading code to a UBS consists of two principal steps:1. Code transfer to the UBS followed by distribution to the devices2. Code activationNormally , the OMC -R will download code to the UBS through the span line once the UBS isconfigured to establish communication with the OMC -R. However , there may be some occasionsthat the LMF may be used to download load instead, such as at a staging location used topre -load replacement DMIs with same code load version required by OMC -R. Then, when thenew DMI is taken to the site, it will integrate and synchronize much faster with the OMC -R.When the code is activated, the UBS will re–start, and the LMF will lose contact with the UBS .It will be necessary to log into the UBS again after the UBS devices complete initializationwith the new code.PrerequisitesThe following must be accomplished before downloading code:•Abts–#folder has been created for the UBS in the cdma subdirectory of the LMF homedirectory . (Refer to W inLMF File Structure Overview on page 3 - 3 )•The currentNECB -<software_release#>—bts#.xml andNECJ -<software_re-lease#>—bts#.xmlfiles for the UBS are saved in the UBSbts–#folder•The LIF .xml file and code and data binary files for the software release are saved in thecdma\loads\<software_release#>subdirectory folder of the LMF home directory , where<software_release#>is the number of the software release installed on the BS S . The<software_release#> should be the same as defined in the NECB/NECJ files•The LMF is logged into the UBS in invasive modeIf W inZip is used to unzip codeload, please be sure to uncheck the CR/LF conversionon the W inZip tool: From W inZip window , select Options -> Configuration ->Miscellaneous and unchecked T AR file smart CR/LF conversion box.Download ProcedureCode files are downloaded to the UBS using an FTP server . The user is given a choice of usingthe built–in LMF FTP server or an external FTP server . F or initial download of a UBS , the built–inFTP server in the LMF should be used. This procedure covers using the LMF built–in FTP server .3 -30 68P09283A63 -5FOA A UG 2007
1X UBS Macro B T S Optimization/A TP Download Code to UBSThe UBS code load should always be synchronized with the download from theOMC -R before leaving the UBS site. Refer to Reset All Devices and Initialize SiteRemotely on page 5 - 8 for the procedure to do this.Procedure 3 -5 Download Code1In the menu bar of the Local T erminal BTS window , select BTS > Download Code...2If prompted that the “F ollowing operation may overwrite NECB, NECJ , LIF , and calibrationfiles on the BTS”, click Y es .3In the dialog box which appears, if the Use Local FTP server checkbox is not checked, clickin it to select this option.Result: A check mark will appear in the box.4In field labeled Software version enter the <software_release#> as specified in theprerequisite section (for example, 2.19.0.0.20).5If a “clean download” is required (download every file, even if they are the same as thosecurrently installed on the UBS), click in the P erform clean load checkbox.Result: A check mark will appear in the box.6Click Ok to start the download.Code download can require up to 40 minutes to complete.7When the download is complete, click Ok to close the status report window .When the code load is complete, the UBS will re–start, and the LMF will losecontact with the UBS .8Log the LMF into the UBS again.68P09283A63 -5 3 -31FOA A UG 2007

These interfaces support communication with test equipment connected to the LMFcomputer either directly with a serial cable or through a GPIB interface device (GPIB box). TheLMF normally uses COM1 for the interface. COM2 is not used unless the LMF computer hastwo RS -232 connectors. The COM port selected in the LMF can not be used for any otherpurpose when the LMF is using it.Selecting the COM port - P erform the following to select a COM port for use with testequipment needing either a GPIB or a direct serial connection:Procedure 3 -6 Selecting a COM P ort for GPIB or Serial T est Equipment Connection1From the LMF window menu bar select T ools >Options .Result: The LMF Options window opens.2If the T est Equipment tab is not in the forefront, click the tab to bring it forward.3Click in the COM radio button in the GPIB/COM settings area.Result: A black dot appears in the circle.4Select the COM port to use (normally COM1) from the dropdown in the P ort: box ofthe GPIB/COM settings area.5Click the Save button to save the selection configuration for future LMF sessions.6Click the Close button to close the LMF Options window .68P09283A63 -5 3 -45FOA A UG 2007

Disconnecting the LMF may be needed, for example,to use a HyperT erminal connection for a hardware Man Machine Interface (MMI) communicationsession. P erform the following to disconnect or reconnect the LMF and the selected COM port.Procedure 3 -7 Disconnect and R econnect the LMF and the Activ e COM P ort1From the LMF window menu bar select T ools >Options .Result: The LMF Options window opens.2If the T est Equipment tab is not in the forefront, click the tab to bring it forward.3Disconnectthe LMF from the active COM port: click the Disconnect Port button inthe GPIB/COM settings area.4Reconnectthe LMF to the active COM port: click the Detect button in the GPIB T estequipment or Serial T est Equipment area.5If no other operations are required in the LMF Options window click Close to closethe window .Ethernet InterfaceThe LMF computer Ethernet interface supports communication with test equipment whichuses the network connection method. This interface uses Internet Protocol (IP) addressing todifferentiate each node on the network. Motorola recommends that the Ethernet connection bedone through an Ethernet hub. The hub connects to the LMF computer , the test equipment, andthe base station Local Area Network (LAN). Connection details are as follows:T est equipment to hub – This is an Unshielded T wisted P air (UTP) Ethernet cable with two10/100Base–TX 8 -contact modular connectors.LMF to hub – Use one of the following cable types to connect the LMF to the Hub:•Ethernet cable. Be sure the computer Network Interface Card (NIC) is set for either AUTOor to use the 8–contact modular connector only .•Coaxial cable between NIC and Hub. F or a computer NIC equipped with a 10Base–2 (BNC)connector , use a BNC tee connector on the hub. If the hub does not have BNC connectors, use a BNC–to–UTP adapter with the tee connector . Connect a coaxial cable between theNIC and one end of the BNC tee crossbar .Hub to base station– Use one of the following, depending on the type of base station to becalibrated or tested:•F or UBS with 10/100Base–T LAN : Connect an Ethernet cable between the hub and the S SICRMS/LMT CUSTOMER ENET connector .3 -46 68P09283A63 -5FOA A UG 2007
1X UBS Macro B T S Optimization/A TP T est Equipment Connection to the LMFAddressing MethodsDifferent addressing methods are used for test equipment depending on the type of interfaceconnection it has. The different addressing methods are described in the following subsections.GPIB AddressesGPIB addresses can range from 1 through 30. The LMF will accept any address in thatrange, but the numbers entered in the LMF Options window GPIB address box must matchthe addresses set in the test equipment. Motorola recommends using 1for a CDMA signalgenerator , 13 for a power meter , and 18 for a communications system analyzer . T o verifyand, if necessary , change the GPIB addresses of the test equipment, refer to theSetting GPIBAddressessections of Appendix D T est Equipment Preparation .Serial ConnectionThis connection type uses a direct serial connection between the test equipment and theLMF computer platform. TheAnritsuMT8212B communications test set is an example oftest equipment using this type of connection. There are no specific addressing requirementsfor this type of interface.IP AddressesT est equipment using the Network connection type use IP addresses to identify them on theEthernet LAN . The E7495A and E7495B communications test sets are examples of Networkconnection test equipment. Setting the IP address in the test equipment is covered in thespecific test equipment (for example, Agilent E7495) set -up section of Appendix D T estEquipment Preparation .68P09283A63 -5 3 -47FOA A UG 2007

Cable Calibr ation Chapter 3: LMF Oper ationCable Calibration■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■Calibrating Cables OverviewThe cable calibration function measures the loss (in dB) for the TX and RX cables that are to beused for testing. A CDMA analyzer is used to measure the loss of each cable configuration (TXcable configuration and RX cable configuration). The cable calibration consists of the following:•Measuring the loss of a short cable – This is required to compensate for anymeasurement error of the analyzer . The short cable (used only for the calibration process)is used in series with both the TX and RX cable configuration when measuring. Themeasured loss of the short cable is deducted from the measured loss of the TX and RXcable configuration to determine the actual loss of the TX and RX cable configurations. The result is then adjusted out of both the TX and RX measurements to compensate forthe measured loss.•Measuring the short cable plus the RX cable configuration loss – The RX cableconfiguration normally consists only of a coax cable with type -N connectors that is longenough to reach from the BTS RX port of the test equipment. Refer to Figure 3 -31 ,Figure 3 -32 ,Figure 3 -33 , or Figure 3 -34 for specific cable and connection requirements foreach type of communications system analyzer .•Measuring the short cable plus the TX cable configuration loss – The TX cableconfiguration normally consists of two coax cables with type N connectors and a directionalcoupler , a load, and an additional attenuator (if required by the specified BTS). The totalloss of the path loss of the TX cable configuration must be as required for the BTS (normally30 or 50 dB). Refer to Figure 3 -31 ,Figure 3 -32 ,Figure 3 -33 , or Figure 3 -34 for specificcable and connection requirements for each type of communications system analyzer .Cable Calibration Set–up DiagramsFigure 3 -31 and Figure 3 -32 show the cable calibration set–up for various supported test sets. The left side of the diagram depicts the location of the input and output connectors of each testequipment item, and the right side details the set up for each test.Calibrate Test Cabling using Communications System AnalyzerCable Calibration is used to calibrate both TX and RX test cables.3 -64 68P09283A63 -5FOA A UG 2007

Introduction to A TP Chapter 4: Acceptance T est ProceduresIntroduction to ATP■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■IntroductionGeneralThe Acceptance T est Procedures (A TP) allow Cellular Field Engineers (CFEs) to run automatedacceptance tests on all UBS subsystem devices equipped in the NEC using the LMF and thetest equipment it supports.LMF User InterfaceThis chapter provides procedures for performing acceptance testing from the LMF GraphicalUser Interface (GUI) environment, the recommended method. The GUI provides the advantagesof simplifying the LMF user interface, reducing the potential for mis -keying commands andassociated parameters, and speeding up the execution of complex operations involving multiplecommand strings. If it is believed the LMF command line interface (CLI) will provide additionalinsight into A TP operation or unexpected test results, refer to LMF CLI Reference.Test ReportsThe CFE can choose to save the results of A TP tests to a report file from which A TP reports aregenerated for later printing. See the Generating an A TP Report section in this chapter .Test Equipment SelectionBecause test equipment functions during acceptance testing are controlled by the LMF directly ,only the test equipment models supported by the LMF can be used.1. Before using the LMF , read the Dev eloper R elease Notes for WinLMF section inthe LMF Help function on -line documentation for an y applicable information. P a yparticular attention to the Ca v eats/Known Issues part of this appendix.2. The A TP test is to be performed on out -of -service sectors only .3. DO NO T substitute test equipment with other models not supported b y the LMF .4 -2 68P09283A63 -5FOA A UG 2007
1X UBS Macro B T S Optimization/A TP Introduction to A TPTest Equipment Set CalibrationRefer to T est Set Calibration on page 3 - 55 ,Cable Calibration on page 3 - 64 , and Appendix DT est Equipment Preparation for detailed interconnection information needed for calibratingequipment, cables, and other test equipment set components.Equipment has been factory -tested for FCC compliance. If license -governing bodiesrequire documentation supporting UBS site compliance with regulations, a full A TPmay be necessary . P erform the Reduced A TP only if reports for the specific UBSsite are NOT required.A fter verifying that the proper operational software was code synced to the UBS , the CFE mustperform these procedures (minimal recommendation):1. V erify the TX/RX paths by performing TX Audit and Receive Signal Strength Indicator(RS SI) tests.2. Be sure calibration data for all equipped sector -carriers is obtained and loaded on theOMC -R for normal site operation.Should failures occur while performing the specified tests, refer to the Basic Troubleshootingsection of this manual for help in determining the failure point. Once the point of failure hasbeen identified and corrected, refer to the FRU Optimization and A TP T est Matrix in Appendix BFRU Optimization/A TP Matrix to determine the applicable test that must be performed. In the unlikely event that the UBS passes these tests but has a forward link problem duringnormal operation, the CFE should then perform the additional TX tests for troubleshooting: TXspectral mask, TX rho, and TX code domain.1x EV -DO ATPShould the UBS Macro be equipped with EV -DO cards/modules, refer to1x EV -DO SystemA TP — 68P09283A59for testing procedures.68P09283A63 -5 4 -3FOA A UG 2007

Acceptance T est Procedures - TX & RX Chapter 4: Acceptance T est ProceduresReceive Signal Strength Indication Acceptance TestOverview This test verifies Receive Signal Strength Indication (RS SI) for the selected sectorsto ensure integrity of the reverse (RX) path, that path losses are within tolerances required forcorrect receiver operation, and correct installation of the RX path. T esting is performed usingthe calibrated external test equipment as the signal source. The test equipment is controlled bythe LMF during the test. The receive signal generated by the test equipment is injected into thesector RX path to be tested at the applicable UBS main and / or diversity receive ports.Equipment Operation During T esting The LMF sets the pilot channel power level of thesector for the selected sector to +XX dBm (measured at the TX port of the frame) and enablesthe sector -carrier on pilot channel only to enable the RX circuitry . The LMF then commands thetest equipment to generate the receive signal on the selected carrier at -80 dBm as measuredat the UBS RX portT est Measurements The power level of the received signal is measured by the RFX. TheLMF corrects the measured power of the signal using the RX BLO and determines if thecorrected signal gain is equal to or greater than the following specified criteria for the band inwhich the UBS operates:•1900 MHz: –80 dBm ( -86 dBm or greater)•800 MHz: –80 dBm ( -86 dBm or greater)The LMF provides -80 dBm signal (default) input to the UBS . Individual T ests Chapter 4: Acceptance T est ProceduresIndividual Tests■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■TX and RX TestingThe following individual A TP tests can be used to evaluate specific aspects of UBS operationagainst individual performance requirements. All testing is performed using the LMF GUIenvironment.TX TestingTX tests verify transmit antenna paths and output power control. All tests are performed usingthe external, calibrated test equipment. All measurements are made at the appropriate UBSTX OUT connector(s).TX tests verify TX operation of the entire CDMA forward link using selected sector -carriersassigned to respective sector antennas. Each sector -carrier is keyed up to generate a CDMAcarrier (using BLO) at the NEC file -specified carrier output power level.RX TestingRX testing verifies receive antenna paths for the sector -carriers selected for the test. All testsare performed using the external, calibrated test equipment to inject a CDMA RF carrier withall zero long code at the specified RX frequency at the appropriate UBS RX IN connector(s).RX tests verify RX operation of the entire CDMA reverse link.Individual TestsStandard P attern (per the 3GPP2 standard) - F or UBS Macro, the standard pattern isthe total digital gain of the signal (383) that includes the following channels (9 in all) andtheir individual digital gain:•Pilot -171•P age - 165•Sync - 83•6xTCH - 117In the UBS Macro, the pilot is set to 36dBm, which brings the total power of this pattern to43dBm - 7dB higher .Spectral Purity TX MaskThis test verifies that the transmitted CDMA carrier waveform generated on each sector meetsthe transmit spectral mask specification with respect to the assigned NEC file values.4 -14 68P09283A63 -5FOA A UG 2007
1X UBS Macro B T S Optimization/A TP Individual T estsWaveform Quality (Rho)This test verifies the transmitted Pilot channel element digital waveform quality of eachsector -carrier enabled at a specific frequency per the current NEC file assignment. All testsare performed using the external calibrated test set controlled by the same command. Allmeasurements are via the appropriate TX OUT connector .Pilot Time OffsetThe Pilot Time Offset is the difference between the CDMA analyzer measurement interval (basedon the UBS system time reference) and the incoming block of transmitted data from the UBS .Code Domain Power/Noise FloorThis test verifies the Code Domain P ower/Noise of each sector -carrier is enabled at a specificfrequency per the current NEC file assignment. All tests are performed using the externalcalibrated test set controlled by the same command. All measurements are via the appropriateTX OUT connector .Frame Error Rate (FER)The Frame Error R ate (FER) test verifies RX operation of the entire CDMA Reverse Linkusing all equipped DMIs assigned to all respective sectors/antennas. This test verifies theUBS sensitivity on all traffic channel elements currently configured on all equipped DMIs atan RF input level of -123.0 dBm.TX AuditThe TX Audit is a power out test that will pass within +/ -2dB of the expected power . Thestandard power per S -C is 43dBm and the Audit test will pass, if the output power is within thelimits listed above.CalibrationIt is optional, but supported. The calibration in UBS is always a negative number representingthe LOS S between the output of the XMI to the top of the frame. In this frame, it is typically-1dB to –2dB depending on RF elements in the frame.68P09283A63 -5 4 -15FOA A UG 2007
